Happens to other brand intakes too...heat soak of CF, I assume. Mine had it too but not to the extend like yours. Not liking it and not sure if that is a material issue as CF is used on hot applications for a reason...

Green carbon is less expensive than grey or black carbon......

Im noticing there is a line where the carbon looks fine then turns green on the right intake... Looks like where the hose connects from the blow off is causing the epoxy to burn?

I think what you see is just the heat profile from the turbo as it gets further away. I have seen it too on mine and they had no vent back.

PS: my guess, it might be the choice of clear coat and not the CF reacting to the heat?

Mine still look same as when I received from MW, but it only has about 2k miles on it.
Why don't you email MW and see what they say?

Just say it’s a carbon Kevlar intake now

I never had these issues with my MW intake, though I had a habit of popping the hood after a spirited drive to not bake the engine bay - and to hook up a CTEK trickle charger.

That is the clear coat changing color due to the heat in the engine bay.
You can sand it down and get it coated n some high temp clear coat.

Yeah, relatively normal I think. It looks like the resin is yellowing due to heat of the turbos, I have a CF pipe guard on my dirt bike and it looks very similar.

This is due to material choice

Unfortunately this looks like a warranty issue in my opinion. Carbon, resins, and clears should not yellow when chosen for the appropriate application. I personally would not suggest a DIY especially for such an expensive item. A great manufacturer should understand that this can not be attributed to any customer inputs or uses. I love carbon and this is my biggest fear with aftermarket quality. Having a seven year old oem carbon engine cover with no discoloration and well as no sun issues on the oem exterior parts, shows that carbon can do just fine in heat and sun and moisture, but only when designed and manufactured correctly.

Good Luck.

Just an update, ModalWorks reached out to me, so send them some pics and info, so I am awaiting a response and solution, and we will see what that is.. All in all, I am happy with MW, and they have been responsive as you would expect from a company you spend your money with.

I have actually been impressed with what I have seen from them too. A lot different than the other Intake company, I tried that blamed everything on my car and not them. If I was in the market for an open filter or semi-open intake, I would go with them, but the hot air is too risky living in Texas.

Now I am interested to see their BOV that they are coming out with...or am I not supposed to know about that?

Any chance that over time the CF will dry out and become brittle?
