MB service cost for transmission and spark plugs

Just talked to my MB SA and they told me transmission service is due at 30k and spark plugs at 50k. I asked as I wanted to change plugs earlier. They quoted transmission &1220 and plugs is $1044. Apparently quite some labor on both (like dropping tranny pan).

What did you get quoted and did you go Indy or MB? Not going to do it myself as I don’t have the tools or experience anymore (it’s not like the old cars where spark plug change was a breathe).

Bro that is INSANE !! plugs are not that bad, but all the intake etc crap has to come off.. (so either you take it off nicely, or let some shop hack at it.
As for Transmission Fluid, I went with a awesome indy, (and since its a bit more messy then Oil / Diff change)

In your case, I would hook up with an Indy shop that would let you assist on the removal etc of your intakes and such.

Why? They have serviced me well and I would bet they just follow the standard MB maintenance book and pricing. But therefore I ask. Btw, they don’t get nervous about having aftermarket mods.

If your fine with paying the price, then no issues, but I can get all that done for 1/3 of the price easily at a Exotic Car shop...

My dealership did my transmission for under 500. I just tossed the slip and don't feel like digging out the trash barrel infront of the house lol.
.
Going from memory the transmission is not a 30k mile service either.

You have catless DPs right ?

The front ones are fairly easy, and the rears get a little tight, but if I remember correctly, you have Catless DPs, so you have more room to play with. (if your doing yourself)
and since you only doing plugs and NOT COILS, then its not to big of a deal.. Allot a couple hours and take time.. its all good.

I watched him punch in my VIN in the MB service tool and that what it spit out, surprised too that tranny is due at 30k but then its a PFL...he also quoted me extending my pre-paid plan and if I buy 30k, 40k (service B) and 50K pack its 50% off...so, I would pay $600 for tranny and $500 for plugs effectively. At 30k it also includes drive axle drain and refill and a few other common services (oil, filters, blades).

No, I am still on OEM but consider high flow cat DP's now. I may just replace plugs now at 25k and let MB replace it again as part of 50k service (see above, pre-paid makes it more accommodating. But how hard it is really to get to the rear plugs? Last time I changed plugs was on my RX8 and there you had to remove the left front wheel and housings to get to them, was a PITA.

I recenty had Service B on 2019 C63s coupe and SA gave me a MB Service charts. Chart below.

The chart shows Transmission 722.930 is due 30,000/3 years. But Transmission 722.9 and 725.0 is due st 60 000/6 yesrs. He told me mine would be the 6 year Service. He also quoted a pre paid Service for 40,000/4year, 50,000/5 year and 60,000/ 6 year that can be purchased the day of the 40,000/4 year Service.

I did all 8 spark plugs in under an hour. That’s a joke.

I am staring at an invoice from a pricey european indy right now that quoted me $599 to do plugs. I would like to change mine as well since getting tuned.

Off topic but I had a RX8 back in 04 and that car was a real PITA in general for the 8 years I owned it especially after warrenty.

Wouldn't the coils need to come off to access the spark plugs anyway? Seems like it shouldn't be a difficult job with or without needing to replace the coils.

Mercedes charged me $650 just to replaced the rear pads. It like a 30 mins job. At least the spark plugs required removing a lot of parts to get to the plugs.

Thanks for all the comments. I will need to find some pics to get a better idea what it takes to replace the rear plugs. Intake removal is not an issue but not sure what comes next. I would replace those now at 25k as it seems a good practice for tuned cars. I feel buying the prepaid maintenance, which results in spark plugs costing $500 ans tranny $600 seems comparable to Indy shops and therefore reasonable to get it done at MB. This would cover all regular services from 30-50k. I already add oil changes every 5k. I like the idea of having all service records logged with MB in case I want to sell or have any issue down the road.

Yes, you have to take off the coil packs regardless.
