Replacing brakepads

Hey all, has anyone used anything other than mercedes direct for brakepads?

https://www.eeuroparts.com/Parts/537...or-4132087KIT/

I saw these by Brembo, they're like ~200 cheaper per set than the Mercedes.

Yes, I swapped to EBC Reds to reduce brake dust a bit. The right rear did not fit well with the wear sensor however. Had to grind quite a bit off of the pad backing plate slot to allow the sensor to get the caliper back into position. Contacted EBC about this and never heard back so I guess they're not too concerned. Overall they are quiet and produce slightly less dust than OEM but still plenty of dust. Next set will definitely be Porterfields.

Ordered these, like 80% less brake dust but had the same issues as the post above. The slot for the brake sensor in the pads was too small.

The best , not a peep from the brakes.
80% less brake dust
Brake bite still aggressive

Make sure you get the correct Brake Pad Sensor.
Thank me later

Two years ago I tried installing Red Stuff on my ‘20. The rears didn’t fit. They had those silver ‘tabs’ on the pads. I put the original pads back on. A year later, I was finally able to get the correct pads. Love ‘em! I’ve run these pads on GT500’s, BMW 650’s, and multiple earlier models of AMG’s. My son just installed Porterfield R4-S pads on his ‘17 AMG GTS. He likes them a lot. No noise, not much dust.

Has anyone tried ebc yellow stuff? Not really concerned about dust or noise here, mostly interested in a higher temp pad than stock that bites decently from cold. People seem to like Porterfield, I'm not too familiar with them. The only real issue I have with the stock pads are the fast brake fade and (in a perfect world) the dust.

Porterfields are only good if you are seeking low dust and noise. Their braking performance and that initial bite does NOT compare to the stock brakes which are much better in that area.

Think I posted this on the Macan forum yesterday. I installed a full set of EBC Yellow Stuff on my ‘18 Macan Turbo. Prior to that, I had already bought and had my dealership install Goodridge yellow Teflon coated SS brake lines. I’ve used EBC Red Stuff on my last 6(?) cars. But they don’t make Red for the 360mm rotors. So far, I like them. Stop good cold. No noise. And little dust.

And these brakes can stop!

notice you have an FL. Believe that’s a different pad/ part # from a PFL. Any idea if that’s actually the case?

True. On the FL, it will look like a ‘normal’ rear brake pad. In that it has two side tabs. On the pre-FL, you’re looking for the pads that have the silver side tabs. They remind me of the tabs you’d find at the top on a circuit board to help you pop it out of the slot.

Bruce,
Do you have the part numbers for the reds? I can only seem to find the fronts.
