3/18/22- Sunday - Afternoon drive less than 15 miles
[Sport mode]
1. Engine was in 5th gear then it showed D on the heads up display before making a hard thump into 6th gear.
2. Seconds later “checking Engine light “
Limp mode
ERROR CODE - P2610 / U0001
Zero performance - 50 mph
3. Came home

Yeah, you have some electrical problem probably. That code means your system can no longer tell how long your engine was off and it turns off a bunch of internal tests and would also fail emissions in this state. Could be a faulty module or simply low voltage from lack of being driven as mentioned above. The link below lists a number of potential causes for it. Probably should drive it more often, or hook it up to a trickle charger. You can also use the standby mode as documented in the owners manual to preserve the battery, otherwise the online services keep draining the battery while the car is parked. It takes quite a bit of driving to recharge the battery. I also drive a lot less these days, mostly on weekends as well and my battery says mostly partially charged these days in the app, and even after a weekend of driving it still says partially charged. Waiting for my new front tires before going out on another 200+ mile canyon run now that the rainy season is mostly over. Those runs will recharge the batteries fully and give the car a good workout.
Interesting. I guess there are some software updates. Do you notice anything different in the instrument cluster? Do you have the digital instrument cluster? I'm waiting on new tires as well for the front, and after that I was planning to make a service appointment, because I still have this wining/sonar noise coming from the rear of the car which was identified by another member here as coming from the damper module, but not sure if normal since several cars have it. They've so far claimed they can't repro it, so I need to go for a drive with the foreman. My warranty is up next year, so I wanna get everything squared away before that. If there are updates for the car I probably want them, too.

No, they essentially keep software updates close to their chest, and historically updates are only performed if the customer has a specific complaint. Updates are only installed proactively if they are part of a service campaign or a recall. SAs are supposed to check VMI for service campaigns and recalls every time the car is brought in, so wondering if these updates showed up in VMI or they just came upon them as part of diagnosing your issue hoping that it would solve it.
You can check for recalls here https://www.mbusa.com/en/recall and it's clearly also meant to show other campaigns, but that part doesn't seem to work. None of the past campaigns for my VIN show up. Only the two recalls and no open campaigns or recalls on there.

Car feels completely different on take off. Pulls you right into your seat, gives you the feeling and is just more explosive. Very noticeable difference.
SPORT+ can now be driven on city streets and take off in 1st is no longer jerky.
SPORT+ downshift from 4th to 3rd "thump" is nowhere near as bad as before the update.
Better fuel consumption in COMFORT mode.

******Sounds like a winner. Glad it worked out for you. Some folks have been *very* unhappy after an update was installed in their cars due to the exhaust sound or lack of popping, etc.. Almost like their cars sound got neutered.
To be honest my friend I have come to grips with 2019 , 2020 , and 2021 bypassing the Pops and Crackles.
Jumping into a 2021 I knew what to expect.
The C63 and C3s are basically a GT with some personality
You have to push it in order for it to play.
Now jump into the correct segment of a V .. example !
V10 model or GT3 you dont have to modify or push it... it simply sings on command.
But hey , you live once keep moving up in the car range and smile

Other than the last point, which I don't pay attention to, you are describing how my car feels already. It did take a few thousand miles to fully wake up, though. The difference in your case is probably largely because the adaptations were reset when they updated the ECU/TCU. It has to adapt to your driving again. Sounds like it perhaps has previously adapted to a more sedated driving style.
