Thoughts? Personally I really dislike the instrument cluster just being a tablet and no physical buttons on the console for drive modes and climate controls. I hope they do something different for the 63 but they probably wont

what you see is what you are going to get in the c63. the 43 it appears they are trying to make it a "real" amg. You may see some slight changes like full carbon bucket seats or some different fabrics/leathers but overall design is what you are going to get.
At least the tire setup from factory is a step in the right direction. I assume the c63 will be able to fit some meaty tires to put that 4 banger to the ground. wont really need to do much. has race mode and launch control. cool. engine is definitely a let down per spec sheet. 4.6 0-60. i assume testing will reveal its faster. The question becomes how far can that little amg engine be pushed. looks like it is closed deck and has forged pistons. So what can those rods take and what is the turbo limit? Probably only turbo upgrade option will be to bore it out maybe depending on what electronics looks like. This car will probably be great for people that dont want to mod, but modding it may prove to be difficult. I am sure the c63 with the extra electronics will only be even more difficult to properly tune. sad day to see this becoming reality. just maybe there is a chance this is all a joke the the c63 will have the v8.

this might be an unpopular opinion but those seats look like they belong in a 63 and not 43. they keep cannibalizing it unless the 63 performance seats turn out to be very different which i doubt.

the whole AMG brand took a hit once they started coming out with these 43/53s, took away all the exclusivity. ok im done venting

Headlights make it look like a GT 63 from the front, overall has potential but not worth it.

definitely not trading my 63s for that.

All the C Class's will look like this, the motor is pretty cool tech. I'll keep my 63 but I do like the new interior.

Overall, I don't hate it. I do like the new interiors. Not too much of a fan of the blue/orange color palette, though, and the new supersport design. All a bit too busy now. I like the new design of the performance seats, but looks like they no longer have the leg extension. That's a step back, and wondering if they even gonna offer them in the USA. They've been discontinuing them for the SUVs and sedans as few buyers optioned them in the first place. The 43 almost seems like the one to get now w/o the extra 500 lbs of battery and electric motor that the 63 will have, and the system doesn't work all that well as demonstrated in the GT63 S E Performance. According to carwow it works well on the track, but is too complicated and somewhat awkward on the road. They haven't quite figured out how to transition smoothly between electric and combustion engine and the 2 speed transmission for the electric motor adds a strange jolt after the main transmission downshifts when you get on it.

To answer your question on the Performance Seats for the USA market, looks like it is a go. At least according to the DOG on Page 16 DE4 Package and DE5 Package, forum member Eaton posted: https://mbworld.org/forums/attachmen...uide-en_us.pdf

That's a positive thing at least. Waiting for the first drive reviews, but definitely not gonna rush out to get one of these, especially if there's no coupe. The 63 is clearly losing its special status. Basically the 43 with additional electric power. Quite surprised they put the MCT in the 43. That's been one thing that differentiated the 63 models besides the engine.

Same, that along with the "One Man One Engine" treatment. I was shocked...

In your previous post on a different thread you shared with us many specs and technical details on the W206 C63, one key thing is how much weight it gains, I wonder if they are taking their sweet time trying to figure out how to lower the weight. Hopefully they are able to achieve that otherwise unless people just want the newest from MB, it may be a tough sell when competitors with inline 6 and V6 still exists and going from V8 to inline 4 yet slower to the competition in general.

The W206 C43 performance numbers don't look too good for example, but hopefully it is just a conservative number, like you mentioned will need to wait for the driving reviews, hopefully it ends up impressing us.

No, they are not working on getting the weight down. The platform is what it is. They've been working on tuning this very complicated powertrain, but as the GT63 reviews show it still needs work. They gonna save some weight by going from the V8 to the I4, but then are adding some of it back with the 48V battery and the ISG and the electric turbo, so the front weight is likely a wash, and then all the extra weight in the back from the high voltage battery and the complicated e-motor, 2 speed transmission and e-locking differential transaxle is on top of all that. Their only claim is that it'll have 50/50 weight distribution, but conveniently avoiding the fact that that is simply because of all the additional weight added to the rear. I could put cement bags in the trunk of my C63 as well to achieve a 50/50 weight distribution.

I see, I was hoping they were working on the weight but yes I guess it is too far in development to change that. I am aware of the other things you mentioned adding weight as well.

Yes that is a good point.

Thanks for your reply, superswiss.

Its like how BMW keep slapping the "M" on everything. Takes away the gusto of a true "M" car.

3,893 lbs, about as heavy or even slightly heavier than the outgoing C63S sedan. The C63 will come in at 4400 lbs as I predicted several months ago. That's current E63 weight.

How are you getting 500 lbs? The new c63 wont have the electric 13hp motor and will replace with 200hp so that is a wash give or take 50 lbs and the battery is not going to weigh 450 lbs

My bet is 4180lbs

The battery in the amg gt e performance weighs 196lbs and will most likely be the exact same battery

It's already been disclosed by AMG that it adds 500 lbs. The GT 63 went from 4700 lbs to almost 5300 lbs with the E Performance. It also doesn't have the ISG and it also doesn't have the e-turbo. It's gonna be 500 lbs heaver.

Yes but we have a baseline weight now with the c43 as its using the exact same engine and e turbo. the only added thing is the e battery the c43 is missing.

The amg gt 63 didn't also lose half its engine and half the heat exchangers going to the e performance model though.

Yes, as I said. C43 curb weight + 500 lbs. The C63 will still have the 48 V system to power the e-turbo, so I believe it will actually have the ISG. The GT63 doesn't have the e-turbo. The performance battery plus motor, 2 speed transmission and e-diff together is 500 lbs. Mark my words.
