c63/c63s turbos vs amg GTC/GTR. Pics inside

So I installed AMG GTR turbos on my C63s. There is 0 information on the internet so I decided to create this thread. They are direct fit with our headers unlike e63 turbos. There will be no huge jump in power but car will not die up top like on stock turbos. 100-200kph dropped by 0.4 sec however I didn't do any tune after turbos was replaced. There is jb4 on the car and all logs looks good. I attached pics, as you can see inducer on GTR is 2 mm larger. Everything else is the same. For price that Mercedes charges for set of new there are no reason to buy this turbos, doesn't worth it, but if you are able to find some good priced used turbos and don't want to make hybrids out of your stock turbos this is good setup.

Good stuff mate champion for posting the pics. This could be the start of a new inspiring mod.

What other modifications has your car got by the way? Will you be doing a custom dyno tune some day down the track or are you happy with how it's going now?

Great job. If you ever have them off the car again you should grab the compressor exducer diameter as well as the turbine wheel inducer/exducer.

Compressor exducer size I forgot to measure, just put everything together and then reminded myself, but it is at best 1-2mm bigger. Turbine wheel is exactly the same.

There is vrp downpipes, muffler delete, bms intake, meth and jb4.

As for custom tune.. I always afraid tuner will do something wrong and engine might get damaged, that's why I have jb4 that's has everything pre set and works on hundreds of not thousands of other c63. I wrote email to Terry and he told me I need back end tune because jb4 is designed to work with stock turbos. Now even everything works just fine I will be doing custom tune because I can not increase boost more. Last map on jb4 with meth gives I believe extra 7 psi of boost. Ignition, boost, afr looks good so I think boost can be increased even more, so I will eventually end up doing tune to see how much more faster it can go.

Well yes, "competent tuner" will get you that extra 10-20hp or blow your engine, here is just 2 parameters that gets "fooled" boost and fuel pressure, everything else is intact ànd is up to stock ecu. And I like different maps and meth integration. There is pros and cons... well whatever, thread is about turbos)

I found them on eBay) they might me on car-part.com or try type p/n 177090030080 into Google, they might be for sale on some other websites. Mercedes charges 6k for set of new.

Just bought the gtr pro turbos too. Can't wait for them to arrive and try. I wish the aftermarket had something that's like this. Just 2 or 3mm larger compressor and maybe with ball bearings.

Not everyone wants a 1000hp car. Sometimes we just need 650hp with same spool or better tech turbo.

Waste of money and effort... get some hybrids for the same money... and 750+ all day long on stock pumps and fuel..

630 stage 1 on 93 and then you woke up right!

Even a lot of cars dont even get 610 on a stage 2 with DP...

Fitting GTR turbos is a complete waste of money.

Your photos and post are the reason why I don't want 900 or 1000 or 1000++ turbos. Been there done that. Not looking for that kind of power while sacrificing response. Just looking for a little more top end. Bigger isn't always better. Spool and response is what I'm going for. 0.4s 100-200kmh improvement sounds good given that was without a tune. You can find used gtr turbos on ebay or online for a fraction of the price too.

Lmao sacrificing response?? there are a lot of less bigger turbo options for the M177... fitting GTR turbos with the work and effort of swapping turbos is just a fking waste of money....
Might be a option when your stock turbos are fked and you have a pair of GTR turbos laying around...

and lets talk about the rods of the M177.. .they LOVE THE INSTANT TORQUE on the m177 downlow... ( NOT!!!! )

I get that, but from what I understand the block and rotating assembly is the same (maybe the compression is a tad lower on the LS2). If not then the block and and rotating assembly is apples for apples
