Catless DP + AMG PERF exhaust.. too raspy

A few months ago ive had the catless downpipes installed.. and hmmmm im not that mega impressed to be honest.. imho its to raspy.... the car sounded perfect with the PERF exhaust, but could be a little bit louder... since ill be needing the DPs with my Hybrid Turbo setup, i was thinking...what will 2 small mini silencers installed do with the sound???? will it kill the raspyness? ive seen people do this on other cars with very small cherybombs to kill raspyness...

I have the same opinion, add a small 100 cel cat to the lower part of the downpipe. or go a catted downpipe.

logos engineering has 300 cell No check engine light down-pipes along with a valve control module (its a package), a in law of mine has it and it sounds beautiful! deep and aggressive and still has that nice AMG tone.

300 cell is way to restrictive... especially guys who want to run some serious power... only option is ... 2 x small 100cpi welded in..

If that's the case find yourself a extra set of downpipes, gut the primary (next to the turbos) and leave the secondary (which are 100 cell metallic) and your good to go!

Here's a photo of someone's secondary cat after they removed it. Looking like ~300CPI range to me.

Don't think I would mess with trying to gut the primaries. You'd have to drop the trans or cut the stock pipes apart just to get enough access to do so. Gutting cats can be very difficult (drilling, chisleing, etc). You'd have an open chamber where the cat was, which will increase turbulence. You'll have to install and then weld the factory pipes back together (or weld v-band clamps on). Youl'll have check engine lights on because the primary cats are the ones measured by the ECU. You'll end up with a system that flows worse than an aftermarket set of downpipes with 100-200cpi cats.

Good luck!

darn did they change it? i thought it was a metal substrate as opposed to metallic (although i wouldn't be surprised with emissions restrictions getting more strict. )
