Comfort mode: starting in first?

Comfort mode: starting in first?
Is the car supposed to start in first or second from a complete stop in Comfort Mode?

My car is starting in first, but my tuner tells me it should be starting in second.

Your tuner is wrong. The 9-speed always starts in first. The 7-speed in the PFL started in second gear when in Comfort, which was awful. AMG deliberately changed it with the 9-speed for a better response.

My 18S always 100% starts in second gear. In sport + and race it starts off in 1st. 100% stock.

mind you I have a 7speed not 9

i have no issues with it starting off in 2nd in comfort mode. thankfully in the fun modes it starts in 1st.

So then what’s the benefit of “comfort” mode on the 9 speed?

I’d think same as the 7. Trans tune for smooth easy shifts, it shifts up gears quicker to save fuel, more gentle throttle map.

doesn’t spoil up as quick nor hold boost as much.

As said above. It shifts smoothly and comfortable and has a progressive feathered throttle map.

It just doesn't feel sluggish off the line and doesn't slip the clutch like crazy.
