Downpipe install question

Hey guys, I have a facelift c63s and currently have a secondary cat delete. I’m looking to install catless downpipes soon, but was wondering since I don’t have the secondary cats on, do I have to cut the pipes still or can I snake it out in one piece? Tia

****Typically secondary cat delete pipes are two piece, at least mine were, and could be put in and removed without dropping the transmission. Presumably, they can be removed in one piece as well.

I had pipes welded in place of the secondary cats. I thought most people actually had them welded and didn’t know that.

Saw a video that these guys were able to install the weistec downpipes without trans removal. They don't show the process but if they installed the downpipes from top down, it should be possible to remove the original downpipes without cutting the pipes if you already have a secondary delete. I guess Ill find out when I try it haha.

A secondary cat delete, involves cutting the original pipes. He's doing it in the video. Check from 3:25 onwards. You see the cut part of the pipe on the ground and he proceeds to cut the right one. To remove the stock downpipes without dropping the trans this is necessary.
Weistec says in their website that their design is one-piece and "bolt-on installation" so I'm not sure how they managed to thread it into place in one piece, since there's so many bends, but I can only imagine that since its catless (hence less bulges) perhaps it just manages to squeeze in with some careful wiggling and maneuvering.

Hey Mars, as stated in my original post I already have a secondary cat delete on my car meaning that the bottom half of my pipes are essentially the same as the weistec ones. My thought process was that if the guys in the video were able to put in the weistec downpipes from the engine bay and feed it down, I can probably pull my downpipes out from the top without recutting my oem ones that already have a 2nd cat delete. I don’t mind cutting, but if it’s possible then I’d rather not you know? Hope this clears any confusion.

You might be able to wiggle them out, you will probably have to disconnect the steering column (super easy to do). Weistec downpipes I believe are one piece so in theory it should be possible to remove yours as long as the pipe that was welded in didn’t change the overall dimension too much.

Got it.... Hard to say then. I'm looking at the comparison pic and the weistec looks less bendy at the bottom, so like mentioned, maybe depends how your "delete" pipe was welded in. I have mine on a flange bolt so can remove it if I need to.

I doubt anyone may have gone through your exact route, as most ppl just cut the stock pipes, and you already cut it once. Might be cheaper and less labour time involved to just cut it again. I guess it's a guessing game at this point.

Sorry can't be of more help. But let's play, will the triangle fit in this hole if I cut the top off?
