Off-lease vehicles on non-Merc lots?
I just came across a vehicle that was "off-lease" from a Merc dealership in Kitchener. It was a car with low miles and what looked to be pristine condition, just off a 3-year lease.
Why would this car not be on a Mercedes dealership lot as a Certified Star vehicle? Is there a reason Mercedes passed it over and it is now on a generic used car lot?
These cars are not bad cars-but dealers may be overstocked and hence do not buy them and let the secondary channel have access to these cars.
Cars that these non Mercedes dealers sell cannot be certified. However, if you do proper due dillegence (like you should with any used car purchase) you can get some good deals via these secondary dealers with lower markups.
... that's until I had a mechanic inspect it. Some of the issues to note: Bent rear rims (my mechanic says this is rather common for the car, so that could be overlooked) and front overspray / body work (that couldn't be overlooked).
He wasn't sure what kind of accident the car had been in, but the dealership was quick to return my deposit ... so I have to think they knew about this even though the carfax was clean.
Very unfortunate!
