New 2007 CL (C216) question
I hate body style changes, but what are you gonna do - that's evolution.
By now, I'm sure most of you have seen the spy pics and read all about the new technological advances on the new CL which is reportedly coming out mid-next year.
I'm just curious to know how many of you are going to get rid of your current CL and buy the new one as soon as it becomes available. So many of you have such beautiful and personalized examples of the current body style; I would think it's be hard to give it up that soon.
I have a beauty myself (CL600) that I hate to see it become surpassed by the new body style and become suddenly out of style and dated - but that's what we always have to expect in a Mercedes' life span - and the model life spans keep getting shorter and shorter since the 90s (e.g. the old SL W107 had a 17-year run; the next SL had a 12-year run now, and rumor has it that the current SL (R230) will stop being produced in 2008 which would make its lifespan only 5 years). New body style always accelerates the depreciation - unless it's a collector classic, limited production.
I'm also curious to know if any of you have put a reservation deposit on the new one yet?

Okay. For those of you who haven't seen the new 2007 model, here yah go:
http://www.constant-content.com/arti...rcedes-Benz-CL
http://www.autoweek.com/article.cms?articleId=102527
http://www.germancarfans.com/spyphot...id/6050503.001
The first link says the debut won't be until early 2007, whereas other sources say mid-2006. The 2006 Geneva show will feature the car.

Mercedes
This is not 100% the next CL, but it is a nice and elegant coupé based on the W221 s-class:

Mercedes all the way!
the autoweek one is definitely wrong, i think - it is too angular. looks like what audi might do if not for some features, like the ascending character line. so no, i'm sure the CL won't look like that.
i think easydesign's might be closer to the mark - but i think the character line at the flanks will definitely be rising. as it is, looks too much like BMW.

Can anyone confirm the new body style will look like this....
http://www.cwwcardes********/cars/mb_cl216.html
That looks substantially bigger & longer than the current CL and reviews mentioned that it will only be marginally bigger.
