Facelifted AMG CL rear on 2000 CL?
My friend is wanting to install the facelifted AMG rear bumper (the one with a diffuser) on his 2000 CL. Can anyone please confirm if this is possible without major mods?
Many thanks!

It have a full AMG kit. Besides the rear, I can't seem to see any major differences between the facelift and pre-facelifted AMG bodykit....so why would it look stupid? Or did you think we were just doing the rear?
Thanks again for your help.

So if you wanted to it should be a straight swap I don't think he will go the extra mile with the entire front end. To someone who doesn't know the CL very well, like me, the facelifted frontend looks almost identical. So are you saying it won't match if the front wasn't changed?
Cheers

Mine is 02' CL 55 and i can't even tell the difference from 03' CL 55 front bumper, only the rear bumper changed with the painted line on the bottom of the rear bumper between the quad exhaust. Now, on the S55, the front bumper changed but not the rear bumper.

I would definitely do it
Also a pity we can't use the facelifted quads for the car...but we plan to replace the single tips with dual ovals on each side to fill in the hole in the diffuser.
Thanks for the help thericker55 (and others)....will post pics of the results when done in about a month........gotto place some orders now...

So are you saying a pre-facelift CL600 can use an AMG quad exhaust? I have check the AMG stocklist that I am ordering from and it does not have a quad silencer suitable for the pre-facelift CL...that is the reason why we are planning on changing the tips.
Mr proform
I don't wish to start the never ending debate on "posers" but I am prompted by your clearly **** and immature post to state my view - to each their own I can only say. I hardly believe putting an AMG kit on any car as being "fake", especially when:
1) It is a CL600;
2) He does not intend to put ///AMG, CL55/65 or V12 bi-turbo emblems on the car; and
3) The guy has absolutely nothing to prove with his current wealth (not to mention his inventory of super Euro cars). If you think this guy is posing, think again. His Hong Kong CL600 alone would have cost two times, if not more than your CL55 in the US, that is assuming you bought that new, so please don't put people down unless you know a bit more about them.
IMO, it is merely a change in styling, now that he's become bored of the look one of his toys which he still enjoys driving every now and then.

Hey sorry I missed your reply here. I am not sure I understand the question, an '03 up exhaust on the 600 is different than the 00-02 as they are using turbos on 03 and up. The main difference however seems to be in the piping and not on the muffler itself, so if one was to cut the pipe, I don't see why it would not work. But if all you want are tips then you can see there is a thread here from CLK&SLK where he was successful in installing some inexpensive tips that look good (at least for now). Personally I like my Eisenmann system.
