The M5, you would be ahead off the line (590 tq), but he will pass later on. As for the Porsche Turbo and F430...they are much lighter cars and ridicuously fast too. F430 hits 60 in 3.5 (tested) and the Porsche Turbo does it in about 4 flat. Both have quarter mile times in the 11-12 range. Please note, these depend on the drivers. Now, for the fun part. A RennTech ECU would seriously change things. Off the line, you would beat the M5 AND the Porsche. You would also stay with the Ferrari no problem (until the much higher speeds). Don't be dissapointed with your stock car. It is a luxury cruiser going head to head with true sports cars. If they beat you, its expected. But, if you beat them, it is a real accomplishment. I was very pleased when my 4500 lb car took down a Vette on the expressway.

well i ask this

because i have beaten a stock turbo off the line to about 100 (where we stopped)

i have murdered a 360 from 60 to about 120.

but i hear that the m5 is blistering quick and the F430 will kill that at any speed.

What are talking about. A Mustang won't stand a chance against a Twin Turbo V12.

360 is a joke, the car has no torque. As for the turbo, it really depends on the driver. The new M5 is quick, but it follows the usual BMW Engine trends...meaning that power comes high on (it is a very revvy motor). MB V12 TT has maximum torque at 2000 rpm, thus making the car very fast off the line. I wouldn't mind a Twin Turbo SL... .

If you really read the post carefully, you would agree with me ,since Mustang is capable to reach 140 mph and a stock 600 is limited at 130 only.

A stock CL600 is limited at 155 mph, not 130. Take off the limiter, and it can achieve 180+ mph.

A stock ,'03 CL600 is limited at 130 mph period,no ifs or buts.
The question was regarding a "stock" 600 not "chipped"?
Read the post first before correcting me .

I don't believe your info is correct. My friend has an 05 CL600 bone stock, and has seen 145 on the speedo on more than one occasion with room to go. The limiter must be past that point or else its broken on my friend's car and gigalo's car.

I read the post and AM correcting you because you are WRONG. They are limited to 155 mph. I have an S500 and that is limited at 155. My SL600 is limited at 155. So are you saying a stock CL600 is only limited at 130? Look it up, and then post.

I believe the difference in top speed is due to the difference in speed limiter programming between the base model and those cars equipped with the optional sport package. The base model comes with H speed rated tires and is limited to 130; the sport package comes with Y speed rated tires and is limited to 155. Of course, some owners have claimed that they were actually able to exceed the "official" programming limits, but I know of at least one case where the stated limit is correct.

OMG!!!
It's like talking to a wall,so again: all 600 and 500 models in 2003 model year regardless of sport package or not, were limited to 130 mph which was very accurate and did not allow anything higher then that(unlike Audi or BMW which were all over)The only MBs in 2003 model year that were limited at 155mph were AMG 55s!
A Renntech ECU mod (the only one available in US in 2003 for 600tt,since Kleemann offered one for 2004) would raise the limit to 186mph.
So,it is impossible to drive a 2003 CL600 (stock) faster then 130mph and that was the original question at the beginning of this thread, not about a modified or later model year car.
One thing has to be stressed though: the 130 limit for 600s applied only to US cars,Euro models were limited at 155mph.

Absent, why are you getting all upset? My friend has a stock TT600... it has ran 145. Obviously that is not limited to 130. So if that limiter is there, it is not in all years and models. If you are going to get technical, the original question did not say "2003".... so your answer is only partialy correct, and so is HLG600.

Giggalo's CL is 2003 model ,so I assumed that was the car he was interested to know vs others, stock vs stock.

I think this is one of those things where even Mercedes can't give you a straight answer. But even on a stock 2003 non-AMG package CL600 the tires are Z rated... not doubting what absent is saying but I wonder why anyone would set the limiter to 130.

Absent what is your source of info if you don't mind my asking?

Do you see now absent? I knew for a fact it was limited at 155 mph. Think about it, if the V8 models in that class are limited to 155 mph, how can the V12 Twin Turbo model be limited less? I agree with AMG2GO, the article was a great read.

C&D test covers 2006 models, all I said was that 2003 model year (as Giggalos) was limited to 130mph.
Source: MBUSA,talk to any technician at MB store and my own CL600 AMG pkge ,delivered in December 2002 that always cut off at that speed until it got chipped.

I tell you man, until you go and stand next to a DB9 and sit inside it, you won't understand how they say some of the editors picked that straight out if it was their own car. That thing is really beautiful and the materials quality is a whole level above MB. It just pours cache....

Overall however, there is nothing like a CL. Really. I am going to have a really hard time replacing mine with anything else. I drove a 911T the other day, it was great. But I was looking at that interior... and had to ask myself if they took that design off a WWII army truck.

Best interiors are made by Brits...
