2000 Black CL500
Talking Just bought a 2000 CL 500

Hello everyone I have been reading on this forum for a about a week now and I like it.
I pulled thr trigger on a 2000 black CL 500 today for $20,000.00

Let me tell you about it,

It is a 1 owner
130,000 miles
Owner is a 63 year old who owns a steel co. just north of my house (he is worth around 10 million).
He just got his 2007 CL 550 2 weeks ago so he sold this one to me.
I called the dealer where it was maintained at and they knew the guy and said he is a V.I.P. customer. No one else has ever thouched this car except the dealer he even washes it there twice a week every little thing it has ever needed he has never complained and told them to go ahead. (cool!)

So that's who I bought it from.

Black on Black non sport package. I need the kit though the A.M.G. kit only I love that kit.
I also want the 5 star chrome A.M.G. wheels from the 2003 CL's sport.

Where is a good idea to look for these besides EBAY I check there already.

I will post picks soon.

Look forward to being on this board.

Thanks

Who do you think is good for a warrant company?

I got a qoute at warrantdirect they wanted around $1779.00 for 5 years 100,000 miles till 230,000 miles 0 deductible. sounds good to me what do you think?

Also I need a A.M.G. body kit a.s.a.p. where can I get one without paying$8000.00?lol

Thanks

That warranty quote is cheap! I bet you your first 2 trips to the shop will pay for it. A well maintained CL or not, its a CL with 130K.

I spent around 10K in repairs out of warranty already and my car is a well maintained 35,000 mile car.

You should definitely get it, I just bought a warranty for $3800 4 years 48,000 miles. Warranty direct won't touch the 600.

But on a side note, enjoy the car! You got a good price for it. Post pics, you can get AMG bumpers and sometimes sideskirts on ebay for relatively low prices.

That is a very, very low price for a warranty on such a car as yours. Be sure to check exactly what it covers and compare it to others. These cars are very expensive to maintain and are not exactly trouble free. Good luck with it.

Rental Car Coverage -
Should a failure cause your vehicle to have to remain in the shop, we will reimburse you for car rental expenses of up to $35 per day.

Travel Interruption Protection -
Should your vehicle become disabled more than 100 miles away from home and the repair is covered under your contract, Warranty Direct will reimburse you up to $50 per day for up to 3 days per occurrence for lodging and meals.

Nationwide Protection / Choice of Repair Facilities -
PowerShield offers true freedom of choice. Repairs can be made at the licensed repair facility of your choice anywhere in the US or Canada. You may use your dealer or local mechanic. Best of all, there is no need to lay out money and wait to be reimbursed. We pay the repair facility directly over the phone via credit card. It's that simple.

If you prefer a national chain, we have agreements in place with Firestone, All Tune & Lube, Pep Boys, AAMCO, Cottman Transmissions and Lee Myles to name a few.

I was impressed with the ease of use of your extended warranty program. With other programs I have had, there have been forms to fill out, and many complicated procedures to follow, not to mention limited locations to use. I was relieved to know that I only had to call one number, and everything was taken care of. I took my van to the dealer, and did not have to deal with reimbursements. To me, that was huge. Thank you for making it so easy to use your warranty! (A. Isabelli, OR)
Choice of Deductibles -
PowerShield offers a choice of deductibles to meet your needs. Choose from a low $50 deductible or choose a zero deductible and never reach into your pocket for a covered repair. The deductible is applied on a per repair visit basis; in other words, no matter how many items need to be repaired, you will only pay one deductible per repair visit.

Transferable -
For a modest $50 fee you can transfer your PowerShield coverage to another private purchaser of your vehicle. Vehicles with extended warranties offer much higher resale values because the buyer knows they are not going to get hit with huge repair costs and that prior problems were fixed.

Your Responsibilities -
a) Change the engine oil and filter within sixty (60) days of the warranty start date.

b) Have the engine oil and filter changed by a commercial service facility every four (4) months or four thousand miles thereafter, whichever comes first.

c) Maintain your vehicle according to the manufacturer's recommendations as outlined in the owner's manual

d) Retain verifiable receipts for all parts and materials necessary to perform the required maintenance. Hand written receipts will not be accepted.

First time I have used your service. Have warranties from you on both of my cars, my daughter's car, and have recommended your company to 2 friends. Great service. My service advisor said you all were great to work with. No hassles. Very happy with you!!!! (I. Natkin, TX)
Coverage Limits -
You are eligible to make your first claim ninety (90) days and 1,000 miles after the start date. The maximum limit of liability per loss shall be equal to the actual cash value (ACV) of the vehicle at the time of repair. The maximum limit of liability per covered vehicle is $6000. The limit of liability per covered component is as follows: $3,300 in engine claims; $2,200 in transmission claims; $1,500 in differential claims; and $300 in emergency roadside assistance claims.

Holy crap thats my same warranty company, but I have the supreme plan. Mine was double that price for some reason. Mine is a 600 but it only has 35K miles. You definitely need to buy that. I will guarantee you'll be happy you got it after your first 2 trips to the dealer, the repairs would cost 1-2K every time and yours is high mileage.

So did you check out the AMG bumpers on ebay? They are about $300 or so some already painted because it came off of existing cars.

Is the typical of all CL's? I was looking at them since the price has dropped so much I could actually afford one. But if repair costs are that high I'm not so sure that I can. I'd be looking at a 500 as well, are they more/less reliable?

I don't know if it is typical, but it is damn sure possible. I had a valve cover oil leak, leaks from other parts, ABC pump/valves and some other misc bugs. I dont think the 500 is any better, maybe slightly I don't know. But like I said, if you have a warranty and an everyday driver, you're fine. You are still getting alot of car for the money.

I can't vouch for the warranty company *yet* I just bought it about 2 weeks ago. I need to wait 2 months before I can claim anything. The past stuff I had to pay out of pocket.

For the AMG parts just go on ebay and type in CL55 bumper or CL500, CL600, W215 etc. The front and rear bumpers will come up and side skirts are usually available too.

The fact that it doesn't cover much in the way of electronics would be a concern to me. Also, the ABC system doesn't appear to be covered which is the weak link of this car. Replacement of the ABC pump runs around $3500 alone. However, with the mileage you have on the vehicle I'm supprised you can even get coverage. The plan looks to cover just drive train components.
I would look at as many plans as possible before you decide. I don't mean to be so negative but these are the facts. Good luck.

Warranty and the CL

My warranty company. Heritage.
Just did something unfriendly.
Had my 2000 CL in for a few minor issues.

02 Sensor failure.
Trunk self close. "No Suck" failure.
One of the pullies was making some noise.
$ 1100.00 Ouch.

Guess my Dealer and the warranty company are not friends anymore
So I have the authorization number from Heritage for repair.
But "Now" after 2 years of having this policy. I have to pay up front
and then wait for a check from them. Thats not so cool.

I hope I dont need to spend years on the phone to get my check.
