Installing the BMC filters

Ok, I finally got the filters from Adam for my CL600. Unfortunately, I don't know how to put them in. Does anyone know how to install? Please don't laugh; I know this is probably a easy thing to do, but I'm not very good with mechanical stuff.

Thank you

Take the front and rear engine covers off. Each side airbox is held on by 6 or 7 t-? screws. Loosen those screws and pull the top off each side and install filters.

Jim is right on. You do have to remove the engine covers to reach the airboxes. The cover of the airboxes can be removed by using a torx screwdriver. Pretty straight forward from there on.

I will try to take some pics and post online.

Cheers

The only thing to double check when installing the filters is the rubber rectangle has a tendency to want to fall in the hole as you are installing them. You will understand when you take the old paper filter out. Just double check that everything is nice and stable before you put the cover over the new filter. The torx bit is T-20 I think. I used a torx screwdriver that I have had for years.

BMC filters

I have been researching trying to find the best way to improve the intake of my CL. Are the BMC filters that much better than the K&N or others? And does the the Carbon Dynamic Airbox fit the 500 or just 55? I am new to the forum and have lots of questions seeing as how I have owned my first MB for 5 months.

K&N's are not available for the twin-turbo 600's.

Nope, that will not fit a 2003 and later CL600.

I think that the member "Giggalo" has the K&N filters on his '03 CL600. Look him up. It's in his signature.

He rigged some K&N's but they were not made for the car. I'm pretty sure he purchased the BMC's to replace the K&N's.

Trust me, K&N does not make filters for the 2003 and later V12 engines.

Yup hes right. I rigged the k&n's to fit the car. I got some BMC's and they work great!
