2003 CL500 ABC Fluid Leak
I have a 2003 CL500. I've been having an ABC fluid (Pentosin CHF11S) slow leak, that's getting worse! Fluid runs out over a matter of a few days...and the car becomes uncomfortably low, 'very low'! I refill the abc resevoir, and the car raises back up when I cut the engine on. A friend of mine says it sounds like a high-pressure valve/hose leaking (there is, of course, liquid visibly leaking underneath the vehicle, and running off the oil pan near the front driver-side of vehicle). I can actually hear it squirting....any idea if this sounds like a pump problem or a hose/valve issue?

Take it in asap and get it fixed. The repairs will only become more expensive if you wait. You could destroy the pump running it without fluid. I hope you have not already done so.

I bet you need a tandem pump. It supplies
pressure for the ABC system and the power
steering, hence the name tandem. $2500 Installed at the dealer
or can by pump for $900 I think possibly at Arnotts.com or
online EBAY or such. It is a LUK brand pump usually available
Brand new aftermarket for $900 or so.

That is correct about the tandem pump. If you sucked air into it you may destroy the pump. You can use a air compressor connected to a clean raditor hose small enough to force 1 b or 14.5 PSI into the resivior to pump the new fluid into the pump before you crank it up, so you do not suck air into the new pump.

If the car is raising up upon start up after you top up the ABC fluid, then it is likely the pump is still good. Change the hose, top up the fluid and then see how things go before changing the pump, it may not be necessary.

I have a 600.... not sure how hard the hose is to change on the 500 but the 600 you need to raise the motor and drop the transmission to get the new line in. I hope the 500 hose is easy to replace.
