CL55 / S55 AMG Brake Calipers on CL500 Compatibility Questions
I was wondering if the CL55 / S55 Calipers will be a direct bolt on for a CL500. And if so Has anyone attempted this before?

2003 Lincoln LS V8
The piston size is different. This will give you very different pedal response, and possibly impair braking ability. For them to function properly you'd need to replace the master cylinder. Also, since the AMG brakes use a much bigger rotor, you'd need to replace the rotor and all the brackets, not just the caliper. So yes, it could be done, but you'd wind up replacing the entire braking system to make it work properly.

The swap should be fine if you replace the rotors, brackets, and calipers. I'd bet the master cylinder is the same and the ABS sensors are the same. Mercedes saves money where they can. The stopping performance should be better.

Ok here is an update guys, I just ordered a set of 2004 CL55 AMG Calipers, 4 Zimmerman Rotors, Akebono Ceramic Pads all around, and RENNtech SS Brake Lines. This is actually technically a degrade for my car believe it or not. The current setup I have is the RENNtech F- 8 Piston 380MM R- 4 Piston 355MM (Ferrari F50 Kit) With 2 piece floating rotors. The reason for the swap is the high costs associated with 2 piece rotor system among many other things (Rattling). The AMG system is actually very comparable stat wise which is why I went ahead with it, F - 8 Piston 360MM R - 4 Piston 330MM. I have a little surprise for everyone that will be associated with this mod, and I'll definitely be posting up pictures and information once everything is in and out of the shop. FYI my RENNtech Calipers are available for sale if anyone is interested, otherwise I'm going to build 4 insanely expensive $12,000 Clocks out of them lol. Thanks again for the replies!

I agree with Blownv8 about the master cylinder. I don't think you need to replace it.
Also, momentum59 if the CL500 was not a sport one, you might need to replace the wheels as well since 17" won't fit with AMG brakes. Actually, with the RennTech you had, I am sure your wheels were much bigger than 17" anyway. Hey, and don't forget to post the pictures on your new clocks. I'll start searching for Renntech clock on craigslist and ebay

looool They wont be for sale! I will be keeping them for myself! :P I have a full car themed entertainment room with the orginal RENNtech 19" Monolites that cracked holding up the TV, Kleemann TS-6's as the side tables, and so much more, I think RENNtech time piece would make a nice addition...
