Keyless GO Shift Knob Picture
In case you haven't seen what the shifter knob looks like in a "Keyless Go" equipped vehicle, here it is:
And remeber, as the sticker says, "Children CAN be Killed by Passenger Air" !

From memory. European cars dont have the word "engine" written on the knob. Also , we dont have that big airbag sticker ruining the pretty wood. Theres something similar on the back of the passenger sunshade ..
But the legal system here doesnt work quite the same !

That big sticker peels off fortunetly. They are required to be displayed on new vehicles here in the U.S. by law. I guess the U.S. DOT figures people won't look at the back of the sunshade and will claim ignorance to the fact that air bags can harm/kill small children. They are just covering their A$$....

I actually deleted the keyless-go when I saw it on a car. I think the shift knob is ugly. Plus, you still have to carry the regular key around as a backup.
This system requires that you touch a button on the door knob to active it and the exterior button is not "clean" looking either. This saves power because the car doesn't have to be on and "looking" to see if you are near all the time.
GM had a better system on the Corvette for unlocking the doors - the key fob had the transmitter built in and the antenna was always on - and hidden in the driver's door and/or bumpers.

Corgiman, I agree with you. I think the door button look strange and I also like the plain shift knob.
Have you seen a CL with Distronic ? The solid front star really looks strange as well.

I have just decided not to have distronic on my new SL55, because of that solid star issue. Im trying to make my mind up on the keyless go, because of that shift knob. And as I always carry my house key, I have a key ring in anycase.
I have to give them final spec shortly, and as theres no SL's to look at in the UK yet, this is a hard thing to do :-(
Also, Im likely to go for designo stone trim, so that gear knob rather ruins the look of the stone gear knob ..
