New CL owner, Where do I start?
Just bought my 2001 CL500 and I am not sure where to start!
Is there any "faqs" for CLs or anything that lists all important threads to read?
To give you a background, I am an American living in Europe. In US I had a 1987 560 SEC that I loved. My mom had a 87 SEL420 and my dad a 2002 CL500.
I found a really nice one with 83,000 miles. Its great, I live next to Germany so its really nice to get it up to about 135 mph and not worry about tickets!
I just need to help as to where to start in terms of maintenance issues (ABC) etc. I took it to a Benz dealer and they did the computer readout for me, everything checks out but i dont want to take chances.
My first question, is it normal that the guy drove with ABC on all the time? I read so much about ABC issues I am scared to touch the button
. When do I turn it on and when should it be off?

Ok let me clarify, I guess the button on the dash changes it from "normal" to "sport" mode.
The button is lit up now, are you supposed to play with it while driving to adjust the suspension siffness/performance?

Correct that button adjusts the ABC compliance. I never noticed much of a difference with it on or off to be honest.

Changing or partly draining and adding to the ABC/Powersteering oil, together with filters, is one way to keep the ABC problems to a minimum.

Should I do this myself? I am good with cars but all my experience is working on hotrods and I never did much motor/suspension work on Mercedes.
SHould I look up tutorials on youtube? ANy recommendations?
