ABC pump 2000 cl500

Hi my name is Christian!

I have some problems with my ABC system. I had the car stored over last winter and when taken out the ABC red warning started. I took it to a mercedes workshop and they linked it up to their computer. All values were good accept the pressure. It was only 8 bar. The oil level was correct. They looked for leaks and found nothing. They started the rodeotest and the car just sank down to the floor. Then they tried to get it back up for some time but it did not work. The duoblechecked all values and everything was just fine. Then they screwed of a bolt of in the ABC pump to se if there was any oil coming out. It just hissed and small amount of oil came out. They said to me that the pump must be replaced. The car is always maintained and fully serviced. It does not sag or drop in any way. But it felt a little loose in the suspension when i drove it to the workshop. Whats up with my car and the ABC system? Can anyone help me?
Many thanks from Christian

Sounds like your ABC pump needs to be replaced. It is not able to create the necessary pressure for the ABC system to operate.

Yes, just as the mechanic said. I have looked at a new rebuilt pump with a 2 year warranty.
Do you have any recommendations on where to buy a pump, new or rebuilt.
I want to change pump, oil and filters to be sure.
Does it work with pentosin chf 11s or do i have to use MB orginal?
The pump is all mechanical. Do i need some calibration or is just to change the pump and the oil and then bleed it?
If i understand things correct its 12 liters of oil. 4 liters will still be left in the shocks?

Thanks for taking the time to help me out!

I recommend a new unit unless you plan to do the work yourself. The reason I say this is that most of the cost is in labor and if a rebuilt unit fails prematurely, your going to be out more money in labor than its worth over the price of a new pump.

Pentosin CHF 11S is what you use. MB branded or not, its the same.

The correct way to do this job is by utilizing the Mercedes Star SDS computer to preform a Rodeo actuation once compete to bleed the system. While this is the easy way, you can bleed the system without. Do a search and you will find many discussions about this.

Keep in mind upon refilling, you need to pressurize the ABC tank (with an air compressor) to start the process of pushing the fluid through the system.

The pump creates the pressure in the system. Once you replace the pump and the fluid, the pump creates around 200 bar of pressure (around 3000psi). Whatever you do, make sure to prime the pump and don't let it go dry otherwise your new pump will be junk.

You need to use higher than ambient pressure air (via a compressor, etc) to prime the ABC tank with pressure before starting the car. This will help force the ABC fluid into the pump to start circulating.

The job is much easier on the V8, you have much more room to work...
