CL600 Badge with AMG?

Hello I just recently bought a 2001 CL600 and was wondering why it has the AMG badge on it. It has the AMG rims, sport package but wanted to verify if they ever made a CL600 AMG or did the dealer just badge it?
Rookie just asking a question =)

Somebody just badged it that way, I think. The sport package includes rims, tires, front and rear bumpers, and sills. The rims had the only markings for AMG I know of. Mine has the sport package but was never badged AMG.

Thanks for letting me know

Thanks for letting me know, then I should take it off. How about the V12 emblems on the driver, passenger doors and the right side of the trunk? Did they come with the car or did they put those on as well

I have the V12 badges on the front of the door, and CL600 on the left rear of the trunk lid. Adding V12 to the trunk lid is common for people who see the car as a status symbol and really, really want to make sure you without a doubt know it's special. Same as with the AMG badging. Less common, but sometimes seen is the V12 biturbo badge from the CL65 slapped on there. Personally, I think adding badges that don't belong is the opposite of tasteful. Not so bad as changing the badges to reflect a higher model, though(such as the slew of fake M5's.)

I agree, you shouldn't label something that it isn't the real deal. I think I'm going to remove the AMG tag off. I do see a lot of tags that do not belong on the cars, but I'll keep the V12'same on the doors and the right side of the trunk.
Thanks for answering

v12 emblems were only on the front fender from the factory , ahead of the doors

any v12 emblems on the doors or trunk are added on and should be removed

same with the amg badge , it did not come from the factory

Thanks, I already removed the AMG badge off. My model CL600 just has AMG rims, sills and body kit.

That's right. I couldn't remember off the top of my head if the V12 was on the front of the doors or just in front of them. There is no interior badging. Here is what the placement on mine looks like.

Just the subtle badging on the fender

And the rear CL600
