So mine should work now, just need to test it with hard braking. I had the option and turned it on, but as Pmercury noted, it didn't seem to do anything.

No. You are simply wrong. It is legal in the EU. It is not legal in the US at the federal level. Mercedes tried to get it permitted here and was denied permission by the NHTSA. While not all states explicitly forbid it in their vehicle code, many states do expressly forbid it.
