2003 CL 600
So mine should work now, just need to test it with hard braking. I had the option and turned it on, but as Pmercury noted, it didn't seem to do anything.

yes it should work, but only whith emergency braking

Just FYI, flashing brake light is not legal in the US.

That is a myth

Depending on what state you are and frequency you set it
In the worst case using the option in DAS to enable central brake light flashing only is perfectly legal anywhere (that is why the option is there)

No. You are simply wrong. It is legal in the EU. It is not legal in the US at the federal level. Mercedes tried to get it permitted here and was denied permission by the NHTSA. While not all states explicitly forbid it in their vehicle code, many states do expressly forbid it.

Just giving fair warning. One can always choose not to speed when the cops are around. Can't turn off the flashing so easily at will.

(c) Any stoplamp or supplemental stoplamp required or permitted by
Section 24603 may be equipped so as to flash not more than four
times within the first four seconds
after actuation by application of
the brakes.

that is why MB added all the settings including frequency
