Lightbulb Keyless go card to keyless go key conversion

So here, the final last step before creating a DY

I replaced the trunk keyless go module with a A230 545 12 32
I had Mercedes make me a key A230 766 03 06 9999 (black keyless go key)

they keys show up in DAS on track 5

the issue I have now is that the key only opens the car by infra red
and starts the car by insert

why ? easy !
I totally omit that the USA, Japanese and Rest of the world frequencies are different for these 3 territories
both, RF remote buttons and Keyless Go frequencies

how to solve this ? simple:

EDIT 2020

Just have the quartz on the key replaced by the correct zone frequency

There are many choices for DAS/Xentry Diagnostics for MB.
Ensure you have the right information before getting one. There is too much misleading info.

Yeah the parts are internally different, there's not a way to "switch" it, without changing jumpers inside. The parts are ordered for the correct region supposedly and come with the right frequency.

Is your car 315 or 433 originally?

Nice. I still want to figure out how to program the card for my car. It came with no cards, I bought one, it should program but it won't learn it no matter what I try.

A used one off ebay. From what I've read the cards can be assigned to another keyless go module, not vin locked like the keys.

The cards show as no longer available in the MB parts system when I checked.

^^^ Tried all of that. Doesn't seem to work for me. I guess it could be a different card but it came from the US, I'll verify though. I haven't tried the 30-90 minute thing, at least not strictly, I've had the car sitting inside with the key out/card inside, push the button, wait 30min, nothing happened.

should find a locksmith who can scan your card and see if it is 315 or 443 or could be Japanese
or I have been sitting on my card and it doesn't work anymore either, but lights on card work
but for me, if the cards go in rail 3 and 4, then they must be vin coded like a key, at least, that would be logical no ?

I have tested the key with SDS and the car triggers it by both doors and the trunk, so I think it's the right freq and works.

I don't know, I thought so too but my shop foreman has been with benz since the late 90's, is familiar with the system and seems to think they should program easily. Most of the techs there now have no clue about the older cars and look at the card like it's some sort of alien device.

Ok
solved

the specialist in the UK converted my key to europeen frequency
what he did is to gain time, he soldered the coded chip on the same, but europeen key
that did the job

from there you go in DAS and assign the keyless go track (most commun when adding a key is keytrack 5)
so keyless go track 1 or 2, set it to 5

the job is done !

now you have keyless go in your key !

So to resume

get a upgraded second hand keyless go module on ebay: A230 545 12 32

force MB to order a upgraded key:

for USA ONLY A230 766 03 06 9999 (black keyless go key)
for europe : ???????????? black keyless go key (I will get the key order number next week, the guy is on a trip again)

replace the trunk keyless go module with the upgraded one
in DAS set the keyless go track 1 or 2 to your keyless go track (probably 5)

done !
enjoy !

In DAS:

Body > KG
Initial setup > F2 > F2
you will see the assigned keyless go key 1 & 2 > F2 > F2
YES
Assign keyless Go Key 1 > F2
here, fill in 5 (most off the time a added key is set to 5, if not 6 or higher)
F3 > F3 > F3 > F2

it doesn't matter if you use slot 1 or two, but if you make 2 keys, use 5 for keyless go 1 and 6 for keyless go 2 (or whatever your keys have been assigned too

You can verify your keytrack by inserting the key and in EZS > drive authorization
then read 038 Current key or key track

done

enjoy !

Many thanks for the detailed instructions.

I have attempted to do this to my 2003 CL55 AMG

I replaced the KG module with A230 545 12 32
I have ordered through MB, VIN programmed and received upgraded key A230 766 03 06 9999
I have had MB program the key to track 5.
The key works all functions except KG. It will start the car through the EIS slot.
I have read on another thread that on my car KG will only work if keys are programmed to slots 1 and 2.
Can my new key, programmed via VIN by MB, be moved to one of the first two slots, now that it's been assigned to slot 5?

I don't think they scammed me. They just didn't know how to do it.

They just did what I asked them to do. If *I* had known to tell them to program the KG for #5 they'd have done it for me.

This mod is completely driven by owners like yourself who have delved into the STAR DAS programming and figured out how to do it.

Neither the MB dealership I used, or my independent garage even knew retrofitting a newer KG module and programming a key was possible. Quite frankly, even the smartcards are a mystery to them because it's 15 year old technology. I saw a lot of doubting looks when I spent the money on a new key and was so confident I could make this work.

As it stands, my independent shop programmed the key to slot 2, because I asked, and it worked!

I want to thank you for the time and effort you put into this mod. I've had my car since October 2017 and yesterday is the first time I was able to use the KeylessGo. And I'm stoked. It's really cool!

I'd suggest another comment rolling up all of the information in one place. It could be a sticky, because your work and the work of others has made this a definitive success for me and there will be others.

Again, I thank you!

I'll be using this thread soon as well, if I can't make my card work, i'll be doing the new module/updated key route. I want to get most of the options actually working on my car here in the coming months.

great idea !

My next tune is 2 SPAL blow fans + variable controller
I noticed that our v12's intake goes insane high in city now that I have all the gauges for stats
my intake temp is 27 C° / 80 F when I drive with my double Pierburg CWA100 and full size radiator
but in city it raises up to 70C°/ 158 F !
that means that you should not boost if you didn't get some speed to cool of before
I'm going to add 3000 CFM air so I can boost any time

Hi,
I carrefuly read your instruction on keyless go card to key convertion.
Thank you for this great work)

But I have one question:
Will these manipulations work with my 2000 cl600 vin: WDB2153781A007841,
My mechanic is afraid that a new key with keyless go support and a module A2305451232 do not connect to my old EIS control moduleese and keyless go antenna?
I understend that you tested this upgrade on your 2003 cl600, is there any differense with EIS system of my older car?

Thank you again)
