P2318 code electronic selector lever module
got this code P2318 One or more messages from the control unit N15/5 (electronic selector lever module control unit) are not avaible on the CAN bus (can timeout fault)
did anyone experienced this ?
I am asking to gain time, any help is welcome !
In my experience, these cars all have stored CAN communication codes at times. They seem to be random and not problematic unless you are specifically having issue with the related systems. It still happens on the brand new ones, we ignore the stored faults unless there's an actual issue.

but as perfectionist I have always 0 faults in my DAS apart from the faults I created intentionaly like ashtray light & Suspension and I scan my car like 3 times per week. I love to reset adaptation too hehehehe
no but this is not a stored fault, it's coming back instantly
no direct issues, but I can't leave that fault
I've seen some people replacing the unit, some repair it
maybe I should take it out and take it apart for a cleanup and soldering tour. maybe its a soldering point or a break
just wondered if someone had a similar problem
Did you fix it?!
I've just dismantled my ESM gear selector which has about 200 components in it!
To get the PCB out (I did an eeprom swap) the whole thing has to be dismantled
It's ridiculous double interlocked German Engineering!!

that is a old post
that part is one if not THE most difficult to take apart
I don't need to do this anymore as I have a good friend I helped a lot who has for 25.000 usd programming tools
he just does a few clicks and the device is virgin again and ready to be coded
great to hear you did it
The US supplier I bought my used ESM from told me they get them virginalised.
Can you ask your friend how it's done I'll happily pay him via Paypal.
Something to do with creating a dump file from the eeprom via OBD I guess??
