Shifter stuck in park are there clear instructions to diy
Hey guy, so my shifter is always getting stuck in park. And on the advice of the forum, I'm just going to remove the plastic and not replace it. What I need are some instructions if they're available. I've seen a few videos but they aren't quite clear on the start to finish directions.
I've also seen some guys hitting the shifter w/hammers and mallets. What exactly does this do? Lastly, alarms and needing to be under the car. I read one forum member stating a specific time to turn the key, or risk some security issue, and also needing to disconnect a transmission wire under the car. Does any of this make sense to you guys?

Thanks Pmercury. So today I tried to take it apart and got as far as removing the ashtray screws and the boot cover. I can hear the solenoid engaging when I press the brakes. But not everytime I press the brake. That's the clicking I feel and hear when I touch the brake pedal right? When I got to this point I could not get that single gold screw at the bottom to move any thoughts would be awesome thanks for helping guys

you can't remove the shifter without removing the whole center console
once you removed the wood trim, you have to remove the whole surrounding leather console also
after that, here:

So I've gotten as far as the screws under the carpet on both sides. But I just couldn't pull out the console. I've taken pictures as I go along mainly because i thought I'd post them up for everyone to use.

i think you have to go under the car and disconnect the linkage to the shifter in order to get it out. do some research, i've never done it. das should show this.
