I'm completing my Ceika coilovers install and am at the pump swap, however I'm thinking....why not gut the high pressure side of the tandem pump and reinstall original pump??? I'll give it a shot with results shared if it does or doesn't work. Pump already ran dry when the hose burst so I'm guessing it already has some internal damage on the ABC side.

it was years ago but I believe I ran my high pressure side dry, and daily drove the car that way for months. Maybe even a year? And the power steering side of the pump worked fine.
given what I understand now about belts, bearings and pulleys. I probably wouldn’t attempt this again, but maybe this info is useful to you
Be sure to share which settings/setup you chose with your Cieka kit!

I disassembled the pump and removed the pistons and springs from the high/suspension side. There is a sleeve bearing that the pump shaft rides on so I am plugging the discharge and filling it with oil for a "bath" to keep the bearing lubricated but it shouldn't require pressure. Next step tonight is to install it and see how it holds up. The V12 doesn't allow for a quick easy non-ABC pump swap so I'll give this a try, but without the pistons riding on the cam lobes I anticipate a positive outcome.

2003 SL500 Coilover conversion
I decided to used Silvers Custom coilovers ($1100) they are totally adjustable instead of the Strutmaster kit. Also installed 2003 Ml55 AMG powersteering pump ($50.00). I also to took my car to the dealership to remove the code error (2 hours @ $186 per hour) Honestly I don't think it take this long. I included the thread on how to this. No chip/module needed I think Strutmaster wanted $400.00. I feel it was better to code it out. The car is riding really well!! [

Coding out the fault would be awesome. Your power steering pump was probably a near straight swap being a V8 vehicle, unfortunately mine isn't quite that easy.

never really worked out with Xentry to get rid of it without the module
I never worked more on it as I got the module years ago
but it should be possible with Vediamo

There are many versions and choices for DAS/Xentry Diagnostics for MB.
Ensure you have the right information before getting one. There is too much misleading info.

No fault with coilover conversion
No faults with new coilovers after I disconnected the entire ABC controller located in the driver side fuse box near brake booster. Only driver alert I receive is for the tpms sensors that need replaced. No red and no blue alert that needs to be cleared. Gone completely.

I'm just wondering if it has always been that simple all along or if this/my car is just a special case? I've seen others talk about still having the white, or whatever color it is, error message to clear with the dash button even after disconnect of the ABC controller. Perhaps the trick was to remove all of the connections?

At some point I plan on doing a quick write up about my Ceika coilover conversion adventure, but I want to solve all my alignment/camber issues due to my lowered ride height before hand.

Time to bring this back again!
I'm looking specifically for the part number of that bracket @smartadze indicated in his posts up there ^ I can call MB this week and get it, of course, but if anyone knows it, it will help me. I want to purchase a reman or new power steering pump and those don't include the bracket, sadly
I'm pulling my ABC pump to replace with a W220 PS pump. All I need to know is that part! Any help is appreciated!
Boxx
PS - MB Parts Miami says the pump will fit 5.8l V12's from 01-06

2003 SL500 Coilover conversion
I used the PS pump from a 2003 ML65 AMG new order it from Amazon for my SL500 R230. I also ended up removing the fuses for the ABC red error code. Still gives white code but I just hit reset and goes away. I saw that if I remove ABC module this will go away also.

I disconnected all connections going to the abc control module in driver side firewall fuse panel and I do not have any error codes or dash faults. No need to push the button to clear it every time I start the vehicle.

Just replaced my ABC tandem pump with a $79 W220 power steering pump from EBay and everything fit perfect.
Search for used part number 0024668601
Careful if you buy a new one, as it might not come with a reservoir or triangle bracket.
The high pressure steering hose needs to be about 4" longer, but I believe that loosening the first bracket down on the rack will give me that length... I'll know later tonight.
I also have a brand-new, never-installed, complete set of Strutmaster coil-overs that I will sell for $400 + shipping (probably about $110 to lower 48) to anyone on this forum. This kit consist of all four W215 coilover shocks, with 4 ABC plugs and brass caps. If you are just doing an ABC pump recirculation, this is all you will need and it is 1/2 the price of buying it directly from them. This kit does not include the light module. Just message me.

just installed W220 power steering pump and I’m not sure if I understand where I should mount the hose that will be coming from the bung on the reservoir. I’m removing everything ABC related. I’ve been searching the forums for a few days now and there’s not much detail on the fluid circuit for the W220 non-ABC power steering pump mod (I have a CL55 by the way. Going yellowspeed). All of the threads seemed to get off track with people saying that you should keep the ABC or making suggestions on how to route fluid and keep the tandem pump. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. (PS. Just quoted the post above because it has an image of the pump and reservoir and shows the bung on the reservoir that I’m referring to).

Thanks Ctravis, MistaJ for the explanations and direction. LLcoolbenz went above and beyond by going out to his car so that he could send me a picture of how it’s routed. I’ve been part of many forums with some of my past and present vehicles (Audi,MR2,Porsche). I’ve only been an AMG owner for about a year or so. Gotta say, you got a good group of members on here. Thanks again! Almost got everything ABC out! One of the most satisfying jobs pulling all that ABC stuff off the car. I’m sorry but this system is ridiculously over engineered which is not a bad thing. But to be over engineered AND unreliable... Can’t wait to be done with it! And yes I’ve spent a few thousand just making sure the system was maintained.

I thought the same thing at first, then a day or so later I noticed I was indeed getting the white, resettable “abc warning “ message on the dash. I believe if removing the computer alone has solved your issue, your car may ironically be “suffering” some sort of electrical fault.
I put suffering in quotes because obviously a lack of an annoying abc warning message is not a real problem!
I think besides the first to do a coilover swap on these cars, I was first to try removing the abc fuses and try removing the abc computer, both methods had varying degrees of success. But not complete success. It’s hard to consider $400 or so, worth it to remove one error message, especially with strutmasters customer service. Hard to want to give them more money despite arguably having the only acceptable coilover kit for these cars
