Cl600 rear subframe bushes

I'm going to remove my rear subframe so I can fit a rear anti roll bar . Thought I should replace the subframe bushes as well . Can anyone recommend quality bushes but not from main dealer . I presume I need 4 of. Are they handed . Don't suppose anyone would have par numbers . It's a 2005 cl600 215. And I'm in the uk . Thanks in advance . Dave

If you're adding a sway bar, assuming you removed ABC, i'd suggest taking the factory bushings out and fitting a urethane or solid aluminum replacement. It would require measuring the stock one but it would work much better and remove the slop from the rear of the car.

I was thinking about just replacing like for like . But now you got me thinking . I could get some machined up .having solid would any vibration travel up into the car body ? Not sure . Thanks for the reply

Some vibration, yes. Would you notice it? I doubt it, the car is heavy and the vibrations you introduce are low frequency, shouldn't matter. There's a chance of a driveline harmonic that would transmit though the car but with the smooth running v12 in this car, I wouldn't think that would happen.

its not a bad idea but the hydraulic motor mounts, subframe bushings etc are what gives a mercedes that mercedes ride-quality. if anybody has sourced aftermarket bushings im interested in hearing more about your experiences. i am tackling this job soon and possibly adding rear sways too. did you ever install the rear sways?

I never found any aftermarket (Quality) bushings when looking for some on my 211.
The rear(rear) subframe bushings are a 220 part number.

I assume the CL uses the same.
You can't buy them from the dealer anymore. I had to buy mine overseas, lemforder i believe.

May I ask a question about your conversion? I have been chasing that amazing Mercedes ride for a while. I didn't want to take out the abc since the engineering behind it has so much cool value to me. On another note I'm about the replace both rear struts after doing the fronts a few months ago*. Having said that the car still doesn't overwhelm me with a luxury ride. Seems harsh at times. Granted our roads in PR stink.

Now the main question; being as objective as you can since you made the commitment to the abc delete, out of 100, how many points did you "lose" on ride COMFORT. I mean the car corners flat with the abc already.

*along with ALL accumulators and 80% of the hoses.

My abc on not 2002 was a tad stiff , and a little twitchy over big potholes. I also have 20 inch rims with thin tires contributing to those issues

with strutmasters the ride quality was actually improved, there was obviously more body roll and accel/braking pitch but a lot of this can be rectified with sway bars from the w220. I never bothered installing sways because it’s not like I transverse many high speed twisty roads here in Florida.

The yellow speed kit is fairly firm, almost harsh like a true sports car

cieka kit has a smoother ride but suffers the same rear end “bounce” over large road dips, like the yellow speed unfortunately experiences

My car is stock. Permagrin when I take corners or hairpin exits in this thing. My driving is almost all turns.Anyway I'm committed the stock nature of the suspension. Probably 80% new on hoses, 100% on accumulators, excellent pressure from the pump, and I'm having fun with the ride height button to get over big speed bumps or grades Interesting to hear the ride quality goes up oh well. thank you for the great reply!

Being able to raise the car on command was BY FAR the thing I miss most about abc

luckily cieka now offers an air cup upgrade for $750 that lets you adjust the ride height by 40mm, I may try it

Well that sounds amazing. I'm about to buy a used strut for the rear right just to make sure it's the issue. I rebuilt both blocks already.

I really don't understand why this guy didn't take down the differential first
I took down the differential first and if you know it's weight you will understand why
