ABC Flush Question

Hi guys, when you flush the ABC by placing the returning line into a bucket & refill the reservoir w/ clean fluid, does the fluid between the accumulators & the struts also get flushed or you'll need to bleed it at the bleeder valves like the brake? Let me know. Thanks.

If you're doing the rodeo with SDS while flushing, yes, mostly. The pitch (front to rear) actually displaces the most fluid out of the system.

I don't have access to SDS to perform a rodeo so will I get more old fluid out if I bleed at the bleeder valves? Car has been great, no sagging at any corners even if I let it sit for weeks.

You can't flush it without actuating the suspension then. You can bleed it from the struts with the engine off, best way is to push the wheel up with a jack as you open the bleeder, Nick has a thread on it, follow his links. You still won't get the fluid between the valve/strut out with one try, you would have to bleed them all, let the car pump back up to push that fluid into the struts, then do it again. Gets tedious without a lift IMO, might be easier to find a local independent shop that will flush it for you, if they will be reasonable.

Italianjoe- That's exactly what I have in mind, bleed the old fluid in the struts out at the bleeder valves by moving the tires up & down w/ a lift. Thank you very much.

If there is nothing wrong with your system I don't recommend doing it that way

simply flush what you can while someone in the car articulates the system Just using the abc up/down button on the console multiple times

don't bleed from the struts it introduces another risk

What risk is that? (I suspect we have both the same problem in the past).

You break the bleed nipples off

But also, going up down does not move the fluid around the system that much, you will have to flush much much more clean fluid until you get all the old fluid out unless you are doing pitch.

I did a flush by putting the return line into a bucket & filled the reservoir w/ clean fluid a year ago. While filling, I had my son pushed the suspension button multiple times to move the car up & down. As stated, car has been well taking care & in great shape. No sagging at any corners even if I leave it sitting in the garage for weeks so it's just a plan if I really want to flush the remaining fluid in the struts out. I probably won't & just wait for my next flush then will have an indy shop to do a flush w/ the rodeo. Thanks everyone for your inputs.
