Engine stays hot for a long time after shutoff
I have noticed my 2003 CL600 stays hot for so long after I part it. We are now in the middle of winter. At night its in the 30's, I noticed that two to three hours after I have gotten home, my car engine is still hot, not warm. Does anyone else experience this?

as long as your coolant temp is always below 100 and is at 80-95 most of the time you are fine

Engine heat
I didn't know that. I have never had an engine stay that hot for that long. I have also never had a turbo charged car before this one.

I do not drive my 600 in the winter but I can assure you that it is ok. The V12 TT Engine produces tons of heat! These engines are also HUGE! Always remember to check your coolant as well!

This engine has 4 gallons of coolant, 11 quarts of oil, and tons of parts that contribute to a huge thermal mass. It takes a while to warm up and a terribly long time to cool down, nature of the beast. Completely normal for it to still be quite warm 4 hours after shutdown.

I usually open the hood after parking it in the garage to help it to cool a little faster. It still takes many hours. My hope is that opening the hood will help prolong the life of some of the engine bay components. While you're driving there's some airflow, but when it's parked the engine compartment just bakes.

Open hood
You are right.. I opened the hood when I got in and it cooled down in about 30-45 minutes
