CL 500 Keyless go card to smart key
Hey guys
I have a 02 CL 500 I had a keyless go card had no problems out of it. I put it up for a few months to use the key, went back to the card and it doesnt work now, changed the battary and still doesnt work? what could this be?
Spoke with dealer said that the card maybe bada and offered me the smart key and to program it leave next to gear shift for a while.
My question is this possible. I called another dealer and they said no.
So question should i get a new card?
Or can i by a smart key (The fob and metal key and all) and it work with keyless go?
I called MB and got no answer.

ok heard back from mb not the dealer.. They said if you have the card (for the keyless go) you can order the new smart key and have it programed to the keyless go system in your car. And dont have to use the card anymore

They said that you can in fact you can use the new keys with the keyless go..instead of using the keyless go card (all you need is the key).. The key is like $200 but the people who do my car gave it to me at cost and programmed it....
So it should work..
So it should work..

Any truth to this? Dealer says my '03 CL500 w/ Keyless Go cannot work with newer Smartkeys, and can only be used with keyless go cards. hf322001 says otherwise. Any definitive answers on this topic?

When I finally went to the dealer to get a replacement, they researched it and told me the cards are no longer made, but that I could get the key, and it would work with the Keyless-go. All I needed to do was to take the replacement key into the shop so they could program it.
Well, the key came in, and I took it to the shop and no one knew what I was talking about. They are researching it now and will be getting back to me. As of now, it is just a key, not Keyless-go, as I'd hoped.

I would not expect an answer of this forum since no W216 vehicles ever used the keyless go card. All W216 vehicles with keyless go used only the key fob. You might get an answer on the W215 or W220 forums since those vehicles did use the card.
