MP3 Issues
Greetings everybody!!
As the title states I am having Mp3 issues.
The model is CL600 w216 2007.
I have bought a PCMCIA converter that holds a 128 GB SD card.
SD card has been formatted using SD card software formatting.
Music is on apple itunes and songs have been converted to MP3 using the appropriate settings on itunes.
The song that was transfered to SD card was checked and is in MP3.
PCMCIA card fits correctly into slot.in car.
Switch onto MP3 on car, message displayed is "Audio/video format unknown"
Can someone please advise of the solution?
Many Thanks.
Alex

Do you know what format was used for the SD card?
Also, if you have the means copy the mp3 to a cd and see if it plays via the cd player. This will help you rule out if the problem is with your mp3 encoding, or if it's the SD card/PCMCIA slot.

The format
Hi,
thanks for responding.
i have tried formatting with the quick format and the other format, which took along time and neither has worked.
I will try burning a cd with MP3 to see if it reads and plays.

FAT32 Format
I suspect that I did not format the SD into FAT32, I am at work tonight so cannot check now.
have just read as well that windows does not format to FAT32, so maybe you have sorted the issue.
will download a program to format to FAT32.
Is there any you would recommend?

Windows should let you format SDcards and USB thumb drives etc. as FAT32. In "My Computer" it should be as simply right clicking on the SD card > Format, set the File System as FAT32 and leave the rest as default. You can select Quick Format to save yourself some time then give it another go.

It works!!
The reason it would NOT work was due to trying a 128Gb SD card, you can not format to FAT32 with a card bigger than 32Gb!!
Purchased 32Gb SD today and it all works.
Thanks for the advice.

If you do want to use the 128gb card you may be able to use exFAT (a more up to date version of FAT32).
However, once you fill your 32gb card you'll find it can take a little while for the system to scan all of the music before it starts playing. I imagine it can only be worse with 128gb of music!

FAT 32GB
If you read the full thread it explains how to get the SD card to work, you cannot use bigger than 32GB
The PCMCIA SD card holder you find for sake e bay is what I bought.
hope it makes sense ?

You CAN use an SD card bigger than 32GB - just partition it in Windows less than 32GB each. When you insert the SD card the car will see every partition you created and every file within those partitions - this is what I have done with my 128GB pen drive.
