Heavy steering - whining '08 Cl600 - 91K

Its been quite a year with my CL600 as she has required deep pockets and seems she wants more before the end of 2019.
I have a CL600 '08 w/ABC and the steering has been getting slightly louder each month and the steering heavy when cold, but smooths out when warm.
Fluid is fine, but with 91K on the odo and 11 years old with original pump, Im guessing its time to replace.

I have a good local indy repair shop Hi-Line in SoCal, before I call them , what should I expect for cost ? $2k???

This year already radiator, tires ( yes just maintenance ), all accumulators...coming soon tandem pump

Power Steering Bleed Procedure

Have you changed fluid on power steering side?

Have you jacked up front of car, undo reservoir lid and with engine OFF move steering lock to lock 30 times??

Check level in reservoir and look for air bubbles?

Yes I checked fluid all is good, not low and in good green condition. The whining has been there for a long time, more a nuisance but now in the past few months, as its getting cooler outside, the whining is growing louder.

I read there is a filter in the reservoir not serviceable, doubt its ever been changed.

Im not sure its worth swapping out the reservoir that contains the filter if its not going to fix my issues...I cant see the filter condition, so hard to decide what to do.

Fluid change required!!!

Hi,
the filter is in the ABC suspension reservoir and you can buy them separately.

If your CHF-11 fluid has not been changed for 90k miles that’ needs to be changed and the power steering fluid.

STAR diagnostics will tell you what pressures your pump is producing when running.

The pressure should be over 185bar.

ok good to know on the STAR check thanks!

Im confused on why there are two reservoirs on the CL600 with ABC.
I thought 1) was for the ABC which does have the replaceable filter, that has been changed several times over the years due to various ABC failures.
The 2) is for the PS reservoir, where I have reviewed some pics that show the reservoir contains a non-serviceable filter, which I thought if the filter is old, clogged or collapsed that just a reservoir change might fix my issues?

Tandem pump

The pump is tandem one half does ABC and the other the power steering.

There is only a filter in the ABC reservoir, the PAS does not have a filter in it.

I finally decided to bring my Cl600 in the indy repair shop for the whining and heavy steering on my CL600 that has been getting slowly louder in the past few months, especially in colder weather.
Good news is the shop said NO PUMP NEEDED! Yea!
The solution WAS A COLLAPSED FILTER IN THE PS RESERVOIR, so there IS a separate filter in the PS reservoir itself for the tandem pump ABC systems.
$380 including labor! 1/10 the price I was expecting...smooth as silk again.
