I am considering buying 19 inch HRE 540r's with Toyo tires. I had the same wheel's (18 inch) on my CLK55 and loved them. So I would like to know how 19 inch wheel's will change the ride, look, etc. on my 2005 CL55.
Any advice or expirence will be really helpful
Thanks!
Mark

I have 19" HRE's on my CL. The Ride is FAR BETTER than stock. I beleive the Michelin PS2 tires are the reason. They are so smooth and quiet yet handle in the wetand dry SO GOOD !

Mark, I would go with 20's. I have a CL 55 I put 19's on them but the look wasn't there. I replaced the wheels with 20's and the ride was the same but it looked awsome.
If you have nice smooth roads you can go to 20's. However, if you roads are less than stellar stay with 19's.
Thanks for all the responses! I think I'll go with 19's. I love the HRE 540r's but had problems with my set for my old CLK55 which I bought from Harris. The seal was pealing off. HRE refurbished them and the guy in Miami I deal with now who will sell me my new 19's said it was a rare thing to happen. He is recomending Toyo's new line, I forget the model?? I'm trying to sell the 18's I had for the CLK55, they are like new.
What do you guys have as far a rims, tires? Any pictures?
Thanks

ExploreI'll have to consider that. I never noticed on my CLK because I usually had my stereo cranked.

hey bro, where in miami are you?? BTW, email me pics / specs etc. for the HREs, if they fit my slk (offset / width) and I like them...ill prob. buy them. ojcsenday@hotmail.com
BTW, 19s in a CL will only look good (For me that is) if you go with a proper tire size, and lower the car with NO body kit. A CL is a pretty big car with considerable wheel archs to fill in. ALOT of people running them on 20s with no problems.

I'll call the owner at wheeltec (Randy), the shop address is 12109 SW 117th Ct. Miami 33186 305-252-2315. He has the HRE's there. You should call him also as he will answer all your questions. They are in perfect condition. I love this series and plan on buying the same for my CL55. I still think I'll skick with 19's. Not 100% sure. See the link below.Originally Posted by OJwerks

mark4 the ride depends on 3 things.
1) height of sidewall (lower on a 20" than a 19")
2) tire construction
3) wheel weight
Do not forget #2 and #3! A heavier wheel will definitely give you a worse ride than a lighter one. A larger wheel is always heavier than a smaller one.
I think 19" is a good compromise, but no matter what you get, make sure the wheel is light, and strong. I personally chose the Renntech Monolites because they are the lightest and strongest wheels made for a CL, but there are lots of good wheels out there.

Had Toyos on my E55 with 19" and found the Toyos to be quite noisey. Now have Michelin Pilots on the BEAST and the ride is better and a lot less road noise coming from the tires.

The C20's are out and they have less spokes so more show for the big calipers Originally Posted by ThisFlyGuy

That's what I'm getting when my wife gets her 325xiT for winter driving.
