I got my fingers burned when I got a 2002 CL55 and a Kompressor was released the following year.

It's too bad the new 63 engine and powertrain is such a dog. They should have slapped the SLs updated 55k engine in there.

This is just what I've been waiting for, UGLY? Anyone with a pulse should know the answer. At least now I can quit hearing all of the bad remarks about a car I find to be flagship through and through! Okay, let's just get this 63 motor to match up to the hype, once proven itself, you can just tell me where to sign, first year depreciation you say? Um, so what! Besides, this won't be a new 65 loss, values should hold up to average of late AMGs.

Tech obsolesence is a more rapid phenom in today's environment of tech advances (esp in engines/trannies/chassis software, etc) and fierce competition btwn MB/F/P in developing increasingly blurred GT/sportscars w/similar performance capabilities and daily-usability for amateur drivers on real-world roads (would argue SL55 was the first salvo some 5 yrs ago, sparking this "convergence")....Originally Posted by absent

CL65 will arrive in US in ?Fall07 and I already have heard rumors an AMG-developed NA V12 may obsolete 65 in subsequent 6-12 mos....
Would assume $150K CL63 w/PP will be worth $100K on trade-in in one yr, no matter mileage (similar deprec to loaded 997TT)....and $200K CL65 will be worth perhaps $120K....and if one can live w/any car for more than 12 mos, one can opt for one of MB's decently priced 27mo leases to "lock-in" deprec cost and perhaps reduce ownership costs in exchange for living w/an obsoleted, scuffed-up car w/semi-worn brakes in mths 12-27.....
599 has $0 one-yr deprec, but real battle will be getting another, fresh (debugged, poss upgraded and brand new '08) copy in 12 mos....besides, given F's dubious safety features and alleged history of spontaneous and post-collision fires, one has to value one's health/life at near-zero to argue 599 is "cheaper" to own than 63/65....

Absolutely beautiful. I love the way it looks, but the new 6.3 engine is what's giving me the ******. Hopefully AMG will have this "problem" with the 63's figured out sooner than later.

You are way too pesimistic re new gen 65 series.Originally Posted by WSH

They are not included in regular allocations (like the previous 65s) and can be obtained only by special orders now.
There will be fewer on the market and that should keep the resale at a decent level(20-25% loss vs almost 50% current models)

NA engine is always a more responsive, more precise choice. And of course ,
more reliable in the long run.
But of course the brutal torque of 55K engine will always be missed.

Well that won't happen this time at least not until the facelift around 2010-11. Originally Posted by absent

I have a suspicion that 63 wiil be offered with turbos within 1-2 years, long before facelift is due. Originally Posted by Germancar1

Like in 2003,that would make the current CL/S63 absolutely worthless.
