Questions on a used CL65

I drove the CL65 that FJ in Newport Beach has today, it is a 2005 with 30k miles, silver/black, mint condition. I have driven the CL55 before but this thing is just insanely quick, extremely tight car, unbelievably nice.

They were asking 93k for it though, which sounded a bit high based on what I have been reading on the board here, and vs. what I have been the 55's going for. What do you guys think would be a good price for this car, and how much better of a deal on one of these would I be able to get say in 6 or 8 months?

Also how is the maintenance on the turbo V12 vs. the supercharged V8 on the 55? I would like to keep the car forever, so which would be better in the long run after the warranty is gone?

if youre looking for a keeper after warranty get a honda or a lexus. The CL's are a bit finicky ask any CL owner and the v12's a bit more so.

I have a plug change coming due. 24 spark plugs on the V12.

You can compare prices on ebay, based on what I saw I'd say your offer is high. It should be about 90K.

Actually I offered them 80, they said if I want to put it in writing saying I would buy it for that if they could put the deal together then they would ask the manager, or some junk like that. It seemed like they might have done it.

However I wanted to check with you guys since I know the AMG CL values are in bad shape, plus I wasn't sure that I really wanted a V12 past warranty.

I think that I'll probably start looking for a nice used CL55. Are there any model years I should avoid? I would probably be looking for 2004-2006 models.

I saw a 2003 or 2004 CL65 in Virginia last fall that was in the high 60's, if I recall correctly.

The 65's are 2005's and newer. It must have been a 55.

Is the cup half full or half empty. Are CL65 prices in bad shape or are they an excellent value? Just like in any market it depends on what price point on the curve you buy. Depreciation is like rust it never sleeps.
At this point in time sub 90K on a mint low mile CL65 would be a bargain to me. Sub 85K and I think you would have to trust an ebay seller or have a dealers licence.

The car in question has 30K miles so it is NOT a low miles car. Hence I would not pay over $90K for it.

The car is cosmetically mint. Considering this and the mileage, what would be fair? 70? 75? 80?

I think high 80s is still a great deal; that car is mint!!! You shouldn't get hurt too much when you decide to sell.

I would go for it at 80k, especially a CPO car..... I would never own any of these AMG cars out of warranty.....

I would say 70k is more like it...80k at MOST...it has high mileage AND these things lose and will continue losing value

I drove the FJ CL65 BiTurbo

I know the car you are referring to. I let off of the gas at 100mph just before the 73 toll booth.

It looks like mint condition, but on the drivers side rear window, near the bottom gasket, it looks like some repaint. Need to really look at this. Ask them to put a paint meter on all parts of the car (upper and lower parts of the doors, rear quarter panels, etc). It's just too clean. 30K mi and no dings on the bumper?

Yeap, there asking 92K. They would take 80k since the new body styles are out. I almost bought it myself, but got a 06CLS55 AMG with the 030 performance package last month. 0-60 about the same. Above 60 the bi turbos are hard at work as well as my heart rate. A REAL MONSTER!

Good Luck.
