Here is the option list on the CL55 AMG

219 - Distronic
262 - Delete Parktronic
733 - Chestnut Trim
881 - Electronic Trunk Closer
889 - Keyless Go
048 - Navi Collection

Also, to answer your question, the heated steering wheel is not an option or part of any packages for the CL55.

Dealer installed option probably. Personally I'd stick with the stock AMG stainless steel sills. They are very classy. The illuminated door sills are sort of cheap when you see them in person.

Oh really? Damn. I wonder if its too late to change them. I was under the impression that they would still be the AMG door sills but illuminated. Dont ask me why. Think my salesman will have a ****fit now if I were to call and ask him to keep them normal? To be honest, ive never seen pics of either, so im basing this all on what you said.

Good question. Quite possibily you do need to subscribe. I will look into it.

Since I beleive the illuminated sills are a dealer installed option (don't wuote me on that though), you probably can have then hold up on that until you see them.

Here is a picture of the illuminated sills. I have never seen "Factory" AMG illuminated sills however and dont think they even exist.

Lighted Door Sills

This is not an option from the factory, it will be a dealer installed item. The only Merc with that is the G500, which is standard, not an option! You should have no problem getting the AMG door sill.

MarcusBenz, re 2003 CL55 AMG

MarcusBenz,

On the mercedes website it states the 2003 CL series is available with a Heated Steering wheel option. Any insite as to why they disclose this option as being available? Perhaps its not available on the AMG version?

The heated steering wheel IS NOT available on the CL55 AMG. This is due to the fact that the AMG version comes factory with a wood and leather steering wheel. The heated sterring wheel is leather only.

absent,

Which MB site has the options for the '03 CL? I know that MBUSA does not have the '03 listed and neither does the MB worldwide site. Maybe I'm missing something, but not sure where you got the info.

Heated Steering Wheel!!!

MarcusBenz

The Heated Steering Wheel option is listed on the mercedes website, www.mercedes.com. Once you get to the site enter through the USA country, after clicking USA you can scroll to the top of the page under the models section and choose Future Models click CL class, after the section appears click AT A Glance which is at the top of the screen and scroll down and you will see under the Convenience Paragraph the Heated Steering Wheel Option Available.......

I'm not sure why this is stated, unless it will be a delayed availability option. The ones I stated in the earlier post are the only options listed on the build screen of the computer system we use to option out our allocated cars. If it is a delayed option, that would be the reason it is not listed as an available choice when configuring our cars.

2003 CL55
The At A Glance section says that the heated steering wheel can be ordered on CL models, not that it will be offered on the CL 55. BTW, I much prefer the wood and leather wheel on my 02 CL to an all-leather one. I live in Boston and have never had a desire for a heated steering wheel on even the coldest days, since the climate control system in the CL is superb and the heated seats are generally needed only for a short period after getting into a cold car. I tend to wear gloves on a really cold day anyway.

I got the following options list from the mercedes.com world-wide english site and was wondering about a few of othe options (marked with a "*"):

* Anti-theft alarm system (ATA)
Blind for rear windscreen, electric
Bose sound system
Car phone (standard) with accessories in front armrest
*COMAND APS: navigation system
*COMAND: TV tuner
Comfort seats, front (heated and ventilated)
DISTRONIC (proximity control system)
Exclusive nappa leather upholstery
Garage door opener in interior mirror
*Infrared interior monitoring (only in conjunction with ATA)
KEYLESS-GO
*LINGUATRONIC (voice control system)
Pneumatically-operated retractable rear head restraints
Remote boot locking
*Remote control auxiliary heater
TELEAID: automatic emergency call system (only in conjunction with telephone, Germany only)
Tyre pressure monitoring system

Are these options available in US, and could anybody explain them in depth (I'm mainly interested in the ATA system because I thought that all CL's came with it, or is this a special alarm system?).

This is a list of the options for a European spec. car. The ATA stands for Anti-theft Alarm & that is a standard feature on the cars that come to the States. The LINGUATRONIC option is simple Voice Activated capability that is offered with the phone package. Lastly, the TV tuner option is not offered here in the US, simply because it is illegal.

2003 CL55
question on European Version Spec for US cars

I assume that the 03 CL's will have the ABC calibrated for ride height the same as the 02's. If they are, how can I arrange to lower my 03 CL55 to the European specs before I take delivery? Does the US DOT require higher ride height or is it an MBUSA decision? The car looks better an inch or perhaps an inch and a half lower and may handle a bit better as well.

From my experience that is something that will have to be done aftermarket. Most dealers are not going to get involved with lowering car, if at all possible. Also, I would almost guarantee that the manufacture is not going to send it to the State with Euro specs was as well. This would have the DOT all over there case & I don't think they want that attention.
