Oh, difficult decision. Engine: CL600 wins. Appearance: CL63 wins...

Question: Do you take your car on track or will it be your daily driver. If daily driver, CL63 should be fast enough...

Hmm, if you get an M5, you're on the safe side although the upcoming M3 is only 0.2 sec. (or less) slower from 0-60. Thank God the 760Li is soooo slow!

yea geez i guess i sparked a little debate...most of which was not at all about what i started the thread about....once the AMG package goes on my CL along with the renntech stage one. I will seek and destroy any 63 NOt taht I cannot now), esp S and CL's. heck I might take a CLK black with NP, if i ever see one....

Once they get the tranny issue fixed, the 63 engine will be an absolute monster on boost. If that motor is getting 500+ hp NA, the power it will have with just 7 PSI and a good intercooler will exceed 630 RWHP.

I will completely change my outlook on the 63 once the tranny issue is sorted and someone comes out with a good supercharger or twin-turbo system. However, it won't be a CL63 because I just can't get used to the new styling.

The SL55 will be kept with the "55" supercharged engine. It was updated start of last year - 2006 . The model is positively "iconic".

There will be no "SL63".

You are aware the SL is going to have another facelift right? We all know the SL just had a facelift, but you are aware that it is about to have another facelift right? We'll see if they keep the SL55 or switch to a SL63, yourself!

from what i understand the SL is not going to have a facelift but a new chassis for early 09 as an 2010 model with lights in the front similiar to the CLS

I agree that MB will not facelift the R230 again. I can't recall them ever facelifting a car TWICE during it's production run.

We can expect an all new SL sometime around 2010. Who knows what the headlights will look like?

For one Autospies is the last place to get information. The SL has never been a 7 year car like other Mercedes so yes it will be facelifted again. The prototypes you see running around are the current car with some heavy modifications, not a totally new car. The facelift will be shown at Frankfurt in Sept.

Edit: Even the Autospies article says it is a facelift, so they actually got it right for a change.

Which is why the current car will need another update, no way it can make it until 2010 as is. Actually a totally new SL will arrive in the U.S. for the 2011 model year.

Nah I'm guessing it will look more like the new CL since they've always traditionally worn the same face. Or a combination of the CL and CLS. Either way a change is coming to the R230 ahead of the next generation.

The 2008 SLs a are on MBUSA, NOT facelifted. Perhaps this facelift you insist is coming will show up for 2009 just prior to the release of the next generation?

No I should have been more clear. When I said Sept I meant that the facelift will be shown at the Frankfurt autoshow in Sept, meaning the facelifted cars won't arrive here until next spring, likely as early 2009 models.

I think we got off the subject of 63 vs 600 a while back. Now, back to the (off) topic: I still have a hard time believing that MB is going to facelift the SL for 2009 only to relase the new model a year or two later. They may change the wheels or make the sport package standard like they did with the R129 and the W220, but a facelift I don't buy. I guess we'll find out after Geneva.

And I'll bet this thread comes back to life then, too.

i raced a cls63 (my cousins) in my moms e55, i always got the head start cause we didnt honk, i just floored and he followed...... he had NO problem staying with me and after about 110 he was slowly but surely pulling
