Considering a 2004 CL55 AMG

First...I have read every post on both pages but still have a few questions...

Today, my wife and I stopped off at a local higher end Indy dealer and while looking for a different car I saw this 04 CL55 with 46k miles. Absolutely stunning and I applaud u all who have one. We both drove it and quite simply put it is the nicest vehicle either of us have ever been in and we have owned some great vehicles.
Being an Indy dealer....I am highly suspicious of every word out of their mouths.
Here is where I am at right now....check in hand ready to go down there this week and buy this car. They are asking 43k...they have had it a week and bought it from auction in Cali..we are in PHX AZ. Carfax has nothing notable and one owner leased.
I am nauseated at the thought of driving this vehicle without a warranty and so far from these posts I havent seen any concrete proof of which one is best.
So here are my questions.
Bluetooth?...what is it going to cost me to get Bluetooth installed in the Command system?
DVD disk?...what is it going to cost me to get the local DVD for the NAV?
Warranty...which one is absolutely the best one and/or can I still get MB to extend their warranty for a cost?...of what?

Thank you all for any responses..I will be negotiating for a purchase price of around 39k...we will see...they even admitted the car business is the softest anyone has seen in 10 years.....and a 127k car four years later is 40?...ouch.

Warranty

You asked about a warranty. I think if you take the car to a M-B dealership they can do an inspection of the car and certify it for a Starmark (Mercedes-Benz) warranty. There is a fee, of course, but you might decide that the M-B warranty would be worth the charge. Check out the pricing, the covereage, and also check to see if the warranty is transferable.

As for your local Nav stuff, check Ebay for the latest disk:
http://search.ebay.com/search/search...&fsop=1&fsoo=1

You are looking to spend about $120 for it. Whatever disk came with the car should still be in it, negotiate! The 2004 has the upgraded DVD Navigation, so you won't need to be buying local CDs.

you should negotiate this car a little more down.

it is just about to run out of warranty (if it hasnt already). the dealer owns it for around 36-37k or even less if it is a trade-in.

i would say that in the current soft market you can take it home for 40k unless the dealer overpaid for it. of so - look around. there are dealers willing to deal on those cars. 40k is your number.

Also check the S55 forum for messages (you can look further back in time that the two pages you've seen by changing the settings on the bottom of the page). The S-Class and CL-Class share a lot of hardware, and therefore a lot of similar problems.

2010 CL63 (was 2003 CL55)
Good year for car....

I recently paid $46k ( I KNOW I overpaid, but it truly looked like a new car and came with THREE years/100,000 mile Starmark warranty, and I was satisfied with their handling (pricing) on my trade in) for a CPO 2003 CL55 that I remain in love with. I did NOT want the ubiquitous Silver or Black paint job. Mine is Desert Silver (really beige...) with the JAVA interior. An absolutely gorgeous car.

However, there was a MAJOR electronics upgrade in 2004. MOST replaced the d2b fiber optic system and they went to a one disk DVD nav system, among other things. Little BS stuff like availability of SIRIUS satellite radio is also possible with 2004 and newer.

And, please, from the start...it's COMAND with one "M", NOT Command.

Buy it. You'll love it.

I just bought an 04 CL55 with 46k, I paid $39,985.00 for it. The same day that I bought the car I purchased a 4 year 100k warranty that cost me $4,900.00 with a $100.00 deduct able. The car in my opinion would run as a condition #4 report meaning, in dealer auction terminology show room worthy. Just the other day my Kompressor started acting up, I have a loss of power in the engine at certain times and at other times she runs like a bat out of Hell. So expect to have some type of issue in the near future with whatever in the car, not saying your Kompressor will go out on you like mine did, but definitely have a good warranty. The car is prestige's but you need to have coverage for when things go wrong. Good Luck to you.
