2005 CL 65
For Sale: 2005 CL65 AMG **Low Miles**

Its sad but true...time to sell my baby. As I have a small child, I need something a bit more practical (i.e. four doors)...My 2005 CL65 AMG (Black/Black) is in excellent condition with 7,500 miles +/-. Loaded...all options (keyless go, heated/cooled seats, etc.) except distronic...original sticker of $189k. Factory warranty in place until December 2009...bumper to bumper extended warranty goes to 2012 or 70k miles, whichever comes first. Professionally maintained at MB dealer. Offered at $88,750.

Thanks,

Andrew
Louisville, KY

Unfortunately....the ferocious depreciation is the same for ALL AMG's, M's and RS. That is, ALL high-line/performance German cars. Don't laugh at me: I own 2 of them currently and sold my RS6 year before.

good luck

This gentleman's CL only has 7500 miles. The one on ebay has 62,000.

Love this car ... hope it goes to a good home.

Seriously though 7500 miles in 4 years?

Yeah I realize that... I was just pointing out the fact how cheap you can get them for if mileage is not a huge concern (you can get extended warranty to 100k, its not a big deal really). Given the fact that his car is such low mileage example, the asking price is very reasonable.

Thanks for the reassuring comments regarding my asking price. The car does truly have low miles (7,600 +/- as of today) which is one of the reasons I am selling it...I just don't get many opportunities to drive it; primarily just weekends as I need a sedan during the week for carpool duties.

Thanks again.

I am in a similar situation but the CL stays and the wife gets a bigger car. I'm still enjoying the car so I figure once the little ones out grow the child seats then there is lots of room back there for short trips around the city.

Good luck with the sale car looks sharp.

I think another huge difference with that high mileage car is that it may not be eligible for many extended warranty programs as it has over the 50K mark. Most extended warranty companies require that the car still be under the factory warranty (I guess they don't want to deal with the automotive equivalent of "pre-existing conditions" as in healthcare). If they do cover it, they will require an inspection and really hefty premium.

Another thing with the higher mileage cars is that major maintenance items will most likely be coming due shortly.... I had just my front brake pads replaced at just under 18K miles at $650....ouch....I can only imagine the $'s for something more serious. I guess it doesn't matter whether it is 18K miles or 62K miles....but that $56K price might need to be bumped up a bit (could easily need $5-7K of maintenance items) to factor in immediate costs of replacement items....whereas HRE's car should really have alot more mileage left on everything.

HRE good luck with the sale on your beautiful ride!!!

Tom

Seriously, when I read the first few words of your post, I really thought you would write "but the CL stays and the wife goes."

No matter how great the car is, it's value is greatly diminished when it's beyond the factory warranty. After market warranties are a must, but do not cover all parts and electronics. You're on your own and may GOD have mercy on your bank account.

I couldn't have said it better myself...buying the warranty at the dealer was a no-brainer....
