Bentley Continental GTC

I was going through some channels last night and landed on watching "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" and the episode was about Kim was picking up her new Bentley GTC. When they showed the car, to be honest I wasn't really impressed. No offense to Benltey lovers here, I respect the car, the quality, the fine materials but I never did like it. I would stick to a CL63 anyday as compared to the GTC. Performance wise I don't know who wins but it doesn't really matter as both cars are not really Ferrari killers but Luxury Tourer that kicks ***.

CL63 is faster and better looking in straights (by a hair's width) and twists than even fixed head GT. Both GT and GTC are pigs that weight more than a G or Rover. Aston with just 444bhp is faster

However, CL isn't a rival to GTC as it's a coupe not a conv.

Saw one at the Blue Martini in Ft Lauderdale a couple of weeks ago. The GTC looks better in person than on TV or in pics.

I would take the GTC in the end. I checked a black on black one out the other day and sort of fell in love with it. Its a close call and I feel like the CL has the edge in many ways but at the end of the day the GTC is more exotic and desirable to me even though it may not be the "better" car. To be honest Id probably take a DB9 over both of them but thats just me. Dont get me wrong, the CL63 is one of the hottest MB's ever and I like it much more then the updated SL if they can even be compared (some people talk about trading in their CL63's for SL63's a if the facelifted SL is a big deal and they need the newest fix)...I have just never dabbled in "exotic" territory so I guess Im still not jaded by the BS brand names yet.

The DB9 is sure one gorgeous car and I'm with you for the DB9. Like you, if I'll choose between GTC and DB9, I'll the DB9. As for the CL and DB9, that is a HARD ONE.

Peformance aside, the Bentley is a better car. It is definitely more desirable, it's a convertible, and the interior is a masterpiece of wood, chrome, and leather. I love the car. The awd is nice as well. If performance is your thing, go for a Gallardo as you can get one for the same price as a GTC. A 911TT might be a better choice as well, or even an M6 as its a GT car that performs very well.

GT is available in "Speed" edition ,with 600hp and mid 500lb torque and is comparable to 65 series in performance(with better access to all that power because of AWD).
This Fall ,FS and GTC will also offer that package....

Jaguar STR
As for the performance question I had an 05 GT, with a GIAC chip it's a powerhouse. It maybe heavy but like all turbo cars a tweak of the boost and 100+ more HP is just a few grand away. I don't care for the GTC myself the smooth lines is what I liked about the GT once you lob the roof off it just breaks up the lines of the car for my taste.

Even though i am not the biggest Conti Gt fan the Speed edition really does deserve some respect. The extra Hp comes from increased airflow, a recalibrated ECU, and lighter connecting rods, which Bentley claims will send the GT Speed to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds! The steering has been retuned, and the suspension is revised with a dropped ride height, more aggressive spring and shock settings, and stiffer anti-roll bars. The kicker with me in the MASSIVE carbon ceramic breaks

The real Bently I feel is the new Brooklands, will only be run for 550 cars and makes 774 lb.ft, what do you guys think?

I don't think an extra 48bhp is going to make all that difference. On Top Gear they tested the reg. 552bhp GT against the DB9 and CL65. DB9 beat the GT by a distance while the 65 was in another league. AWD is nice in poor climates though.

2010 CL65
Would suggest a brief test drive of CL65 vs ContiSpeed vs DB9....suspect most, even semi-competent, drivers will quickly realize (in perhaps a well-planned 10-20mi loop around LA's Westside or SF Peninsula) how lame are dynamics/precision/tech/safety/ergonomics/comfort of B and AM....

Tend to laugh at the absurd AWD argument for <<45F weather....esp w/large ceramic brakes, doubt any competent winter wheels/tires are available in sizes compatible for B's anyway....

Some car guys in Greenwich simply use S600s as their winter "beater" cars w/properly girlie winter tires/wheels; 600 apparently works well vs NYC winters....there are advantages to cars like 600s w/those puny non-perf brakes/wheels....

in your Mom's car
I'm pretty sure that the type of people that actually buy a Bentley could really give a flip less about how it performs compared to a CL, 911, etc... At the end of the day they get out and say, "Damn, that's a Bentley." Most people will see the CL and say that's nice and don't know if it's a AMG or not or even what AMG is. But they see a Bentley and get a woody. I saw a GT the other day and it gives me taco neck every time.

My brother has an order for the first Brooklands ..he put a deposit on the car almost 14 months ago!

I've sat in the demo one..and it is stunning and huge for a two door car!
