My 04 CL55 had a problem for the entire year I owned it. When accelerating from a stop, there was a little hesitation and a slight jerk when the supercharger was engaging. It was very slight but it drove me crazy. I took it to my dealer and of course he said it was normal. I finally searched these forums and of course there were threads about the clutch needing to be upgraded to an 06 or newer design and that there was a bulletin on it. I took the car back to my dealer with the forum posts in hand and he agreed to replace it. My Daimler extended warranty paid for it with no problems. It was $980 installed. My car is now perfect! No more jerk or hesitation and it is a big difference...I paid $2000 for the warranty and used it one other time a few weeks ago when my gearshift lever wouldn't come out of Park easily. Turns out the gearshift assembly needed to be replaced for $1080 so the warranty has now paid for itself in just 12 months and 2 visits. I still have 2 more years or 30,000 more miles covered and by then I am sure I will move on to a different car. I can't tell you how much money this forum has saved me but I am extremely grateful to Mike (DFW01E55) for inspecting my car and giving me the advice on buying the warranty and so many other people for educating me on some issues so I can educate my MB service writer and mechanic at my local dealership. I also just bought my wife a 2009 ML350 which is a very sweet ride also. Tons of gadgets that make it a pleasure for me to drive her car also....just wanted to take a minute to express my gratitude here.

Thanks Gary, but I was just trying to pass along the same type of help that others have shown me. People like Rflow, Jakpro, Bnnfrgn, DSC, Vrus have all gone above and beyond to be helpful. And let's not forget that you hooked me up on that s/c belt. What goes around ...
The funny thing is that your CL was so much smoother in ride quality and s/c engagement than mine ever was ... I guess I should have tried harder to get the s/c clutch fixed!
For those of you pondering an aftermarket warranty, I got $4k in benefits in 12 months out of the Daimler warranty and paid $2.6k. That's a 50% winner, right?

My '04 has the same issue. Can you point me to the articles you presented to the dealer to convince them they needed to replace it under warranty?
My dealer keeps giving me the 'it is not covered under warranty'. Thank you in advance!

here is the thread I sent to my mechanic, one guy even had his entire supercharger replaced. My mechanic said the bulletin states that this procedure should be done if chirping noise is heard upon acceleration:

Even though I had the car for a year, I feel like I just bought it again. The get up an go off the line is fantastic now, super responsive up and down the entire power band. I don't race my car I drive normally and of course every now and then I get on it. You will be amazed at the difference trust me...
