I think it is optional. Mine is an '04 and does NOT appear to have the input in the glovebox like some other people have. Instead, I just have a black cap over where the input would be. I don't know what option had to be checked to get this. Here is the post with the picture of the cap:

To make your use of the AUX jack in 03 models more functional
-Get yourself a Belkin lead wire they are usually longer than you will need
-I HIGHLY recommend that you look into a bluetooth remote called IJET
Together, these two things will allow for great sound and easy scrolling and song choosing capabilities w/o taking it in and out of the glove box all the time. Good luck.

adam, i have a 03 and i checked my glove compartment ... and i dont have a mini jack .. there is a plastic cover like Patentmat 04 ... 
is it behind the plastic cover ?? have not try to pry open the cover yet ?? thanks

small plastic square towards the front on the right side of the glove box. Pull it off!! Your Aux jack is behind it!
not back there. I popped off the one on the right and the one on the left, just a little more carpeting behind it and two slots where the cap plug in to. No Aux jack on either side.
