CL65 Exhaust

Has anyone done any mods to there exhaust on a W215 CL65. I have a 05 CL65 and would like to do some exhaust mods. Maybe remove resonators or cats. Any advantages or disadvantges? I don't mind it being a bit louder but I don't want to compromise torque or power.

the stock exhaust system is actually great on the 65, unlike the 600's it has no resonators. Its goes turbos, cats, H-pipe then mufflers. You will pick up some power by removing the cats.

Didn't know there was no resenators Thanks. Will removing cats effect the O2 sensors?

they will need to be reinstalled into the pipe that replaces the cat, you will have a permanent "check engine light"

I don't like the fact that the light will be on. I may just scrap the idea.

What about a high flow cat is there anything like that? If they put the sensors back into the straight pipe why will the light come on?

Well let's see... there is a reason that the sensors are there.. they are for the cats... so if you put them back into a pipe with no cats.. the sensors are probably not going to work correctly right...

Your worst nightmare...
I have cut outs...car sounds monstrous but I could make a bet you loose some torque down low. Working on a system to open them uptop and keep them closed down low. I gained 25-28rwhp but I am sure lost a few pounds of torque...

Just asking as I did this to a previous car and had a custom exhaust built and no cats put back in and didn't get any lights.

I know this won't mean much coming from a CL500 owner, compared to the beast you drive. I have Eisenmann Race exhaust on my car and it is way too loud. It sounds incredible outside the vehicle but the loud drone in the cabin is awful. If I had to do it over again, I wouldn't. I'm sure the V12 would be even louder. Just passing on my experience. Good luck with whatever you decide.
