Hi folks,

I wanted to see if anyone of you guys has experienced your supercharger to bog down/lip mood after a couple of hard runs.

I have an 03 CL55 with around 71K miles on it. I have noticed that after a long hard sprint, the supercharger feels like it is not engaging, power is not all there. After waiting 1 to 3 minutes it would be back up again.
I spoke to a couple of other AMG 55 owners and it might be a couple of things that may cause the SC to bog down or go limp mood.

1. temp senor needs to be changed (when sensing a lot hit for the SC, it will not engage the SC to prevent it from breaking) I have changed the temp senor... still bogging down/limp mood

2. Intercooler (might to go bigger or the pump for the intercooler needs to be change since it is not working well enough to keep it cool)

Any input would be helpful.

i had the same problem,it's the intercooler pump for sure ,the warranty replaced it for me,it cost around $800

Thanks... I just found out this afternoon regarding the pump. I had my buddy in Southbay Autohaus pull up codes and found out the pump was not working.
I did some research and found some info from another forum. The pump that some of the 55 owners are using is called Johnson CM30. I will have my buddy look into it some more and hope by next week will have a new pump put in.

Let me know how the Johnson works out for ya and how much, I hear it is the way to go, was thinking about doing it for preventative medicine.

$800 for the IC Pump? WHOA! No way man!
The pump costs $100 (and thats for the Johnson CM30 which is an UPGRADE) and the install is not all that hard. $300 max for the whole job...

What codes did it throw? I was under the impression this did not throw any codes when it fails which is why people have such a hard time getting dealerships to replace these.

The stealership charges around $250.00 for the pump plus installation.

I am waiting for the Johnson CM30 pump to come in next week and it will be installed Heyvon Motors, this is suppose to be an up grade of the current pumps that the 55's have. I will keep you guys up dated.

apeusa has the cm30 for 149$ shipped. i would like to add if you dont upgrade the heat exchanger then none of these pumps will help cool the s/c. the oem h/e is so small and ineffective. try the crossfire forum for the woody supercooler or needswings.com for their h/e. also let has a better version of a h/e

Just an update... I just got the Johnson CM30 in today and it was the 12V one. I had it installed by Serge over at Hyevon Motors in Westminister Ca. Most of the 55 guys over their get this upgrade. I am really happy with the out come. No more limp mode for the CL55. One pull after the other was good, even in the 83 degree weather we have here right now.
Serge is the man to go to when it comes down to having the more power for your car. I will have pics of the pump and stock pump when I download it from my phone.
He had tested the car with the current set up and he says it pulls pretty well, but the tuning could be better. THEN he takes me into one of the other cars (which was a CLS55) he has tuned along with his version of custom pulley system, front mount intercooler, headers, and ECU tuned...... This car was scary fast... traction control was going crazy with the power that this car was putting down.
Results are.... I am happy with the pump working like a champ... but sad in the same time knowing I can pull more power out of the car... back to the retuning drawing board.

How much did the whole package cost, pump, install, etc?

Cost was around $250.
