will 305 tires fit on my 03 cl55?

I currently have 285 tires on my rear rims, I would like to go 305 do you think they will fit. I am not sure of the width of the LM5 rims they are either 10" or 11". Thanks.

I am always alone when I answer these 305 questions so it would be really nice if you did it and joined the club. Yes, 305s will fit on the CL55 (probably not the CL65), No they don't stick out, Yes they do rub but only occasionally and not enough to cause any problems in the 2+ years I have been running with them. Yes you can lower the car with them.

Now on mine, the rears are 10.5 inches wide, exactly splitting the two sizes your wheels MIGHT be. If yours are 10s, 305s would be pushing it, and I am not sure if 11s will fit. I think you will be trail blazing with either size, unless someone else chimes in who has tried it before.

What offset are you running on the rears?

When I had my 215 CL600, I tried 305's and they rubbed on the inside of the ABC shock and they stuck out past the outside of the fender. I would have had to roll the fenders and put up with them hitting the shocks.

I have 285/30/20 in back and 255/35/20 in front and lowered and rolled rear fenders. Fronts are fine, backs rub once in a while. On Lorinser RS6s, 20X9 front 20X10 rear. Looks like that LM5 is 20X10 because it looks very similar to mine. I believe they do make a LM5 that is 20X11, but just by looking, don't think that is what you have. If it is 20X11, then you could run 305s. Think you would need at least a 10.5" rear to go 305, otherwise it would look kind of funny and not sure it would be any improvement over the 285s. Especially if you plan on lowering, I wouldn't recommend it, but it depends where and how you drive too.... Smooth roads your good..... crappy roads, whole nother issue.

Patentmat, I don't know how you do it.... with mine lowered and rolled on 285s, I already rub pretty good (sometimes, especially on crappy freeways at high speeds).... with 305s, I think I would blow a tire

I was pm'd this not too long ago. I went to jack the car up to take a wheel off and check, but the damn jack start stripping gears. Guess the MB jack doesn't hold up as well as the car.

I am beginning to think this myself. But Brabus made the Monoblock VII in the size I bought it, so surely others must have bought it too? I may indeed be the only person in the 305 club.

It must be the offset. I will report back when I finally find a way to lift the car and get a wheel off to check. Blown V8 wrote that on his CL600 he tried 305s but they rubbed on the inside of the ABC shock and stuck out past the fender. The Cl600 does not come with rolled fenders the way the AMG models do, so that takes care of the sticking out part-as they DONT stick out on mine. Blown V8 also wrote that they rubbed the inside of the ABC shock, and yes so do mine. When I take the tire off I will snap a picture of it. As far as I can tell, it is only cosmetic. Like I said, it does not rub all that often and it has been 2+ years without a problem.

305's Look Great!

I've got 305ZR3020 Bridgestone Potenza S001 tires on the rear of my 2004 CL55 AMG, (the front 255's are on backorder)

They completely changed the demeanor of the car, it's so much more aggressive, without looking wrong, as a matter of fact it looks more right than ever! Super sporty, with an autocross feel.

Now the bad, so far mine have rubbed once at 45 mph down a regular road with a bit of a dip in it. They haven't rubbed on speed bumps or anything like that as I slow way down for them anyway, no rubbing on the highway or in higher speed turns at all. So I now I know to slow for dips as well.

They do stick out past the rear body kit but not past the fender, they're just about even with the fender.

The conclusion is ABSOLUTELY do it!
Looks great!
Stick like glue to the road!

Bumping this thread. As I'm in need of new rears and contemplating 305's. Can any of you 305 guys post more pictures? And and besides the Bridgestone and the Michelin's what are you running?

Just curious why you say the CL55 can run a 305 but don't think a CL65 cant? I thought the body was the same. I am trying to fit drag radials on my CL65 and the only 19" DR's I can find are 305's. Hoping I can fit them.

My current wheels are a 38 offset and I get rubbing with stock tires at high speeds now but I just bought new wheels with a 48 and was hoping I could have them widened and run a 305. I'll be test fitting them next weekend and will report what I find.

I have 20 inch rear wheels that are 9.5 inches wide, what is the widest size tires I can go in the rear? Offset is 45 millimeter.

Im looking for a size that will improve traction but not hurt handling.....

It will depend on your rim. My buddy has 305's on a CL using a 10.5" rim but your offsets need to be perfect. He is running Michelin PS2's which are usually pretty wide on the tread pattern

I have 305s on widened 19" wheels with a 15mm spacer on my CL65. Sometimes people need to modify the wheel wells a little to fit bigger wheels.

Hello Racehorse, We've corresponded in the past. I'm in NY near Poughkeepsie. Who widened your wheels? I've an 06 CL55 AMG with stock 19" wheels. Goal is to wear 305 in rear.
And I believe yours has a Qauife LSD and was installed in Newburgh? Apology if way off.

Yes, its the right guy, PM sent let me know if you have any other questions. Be sure to confirm the LSD part number it may differ from mine. You may have to get in touch with a Quaife distributor to confirm the part number and fitment.

295/30/19s on stock wheels. Looks a little funny but it can be done with 0 rubbing. These are Hankook Ventus V12s btw. Traction and acceleration are much better, but may want to run a 35 profile. Seems like it's stretching the sidewall a bit.
