That's great, congrats. My brother has one and the alumabeam paint is beautiful to behold in person. If you don't mind me asking what did you pay? I am wondering if these are holding their value due to being a collectors car of 40.

seems pretty clear to me that they are not holding their value very well. I got the car with 11,000miles, CPO'd from the dealer, and it has laready lost more than 40% of it value from it's oroginal sticker. I am glad I am not the first owner.

Maybe if I was allowed to state who the previous owner was the value may increase.... would your borther be interested in trying to do a meet between the owners of this car at some point? I think there is only 18 in the US. That would be neat. Of course others welcome as well.

Wow, 40% depreciation hit. That sucks. My brother is the first owner. We are in Canada. It's only 1 of 2 in Canada. maybe we need to get a registry going or something.

NICE!!! and ouch on depreciation! im surprised these cars depreciate soo much in value knowing that its a Mercedes Benz youd expect to keep its value for years to come..but wow!

A registry would be awesome. I know that the first car was sold to Roman Abramovich. (go figure)..the one I bought belonged to a famous sports athlete (I'd rather not disclose publicly, probably not the thing to do)...and your borthers, that's 3 out of 40, not bad so far! Any other boardmembers have one or know of one?

seems to me that the only Mb's that have appreciated in value are 1950-1960SL's.

Also...it is common knowledge on mbworld that LeBron James owned a CL65 40th..

Yea and some jealous h8r was eating his poor heart out at the fact King James bought that car....*****ing about it being a waste of money......well, LeBron 'King' James has a TON of money and it's his to do with what he likes....and if some don't like it...well they can bite it!

In his case, Psalm 23 in the King James bible rings true....The Lord prepares a table for me in the presence of my enemies...

God given talent can do a lot for a young man. Especially one from the 'ghetto'.

Yes...is he who laughs last--laughs best!

What a beautiful car!

If you dont mind me asking, what exactly did you mean by you still couldn't believe you pulled the trigger? Were you saying that you just put yourself into some possible financial problems in the near future? Or more so, you're just so speechless about what you're driving right now!?! Hopefully the second point! Aha.

And what so special about the anniversary edition's? It seems like all that was mentioned is paint? From what I could gather from the above posts at least.

A Mercedes obviously!
There was one of these on ebay a year or so back. Owned by the recently passed Stan Winston.

I seriously doubt the fact it is a 1/40 makes it any more valuable than any other CL65. These high end Benzs regardless of how you dress them up drop like a STONE. It's a great car and the paint job is superb!

Just quickly read up a brief summary. The only differences are the paint, and the two-tone interior.
Although very minimal, it offers a mark up of 100k+; it's absolutely ludicrous. I'd rather have a standard CL65, and almost purchase a SL63 with the change.

Don't make assumptions on things you know nothing about and YOU let it go!

'Reverse h8r'!?!...lol...if you want to be an ****-ist, at least try to be original, instead of laughable.

How does my laughter, equate to anger in your confused mind?

Senility of old age no doubt.

It was clearly evident that the h8r in the thread was jealous and angry at the fact LBJ spent more money than the h8r deemed reasonable. He then felt it was necessary to make comparisons to other celebs that collect cars and justify their purchases and motives, while trying to demean LBJ.
It was total nonsensical reasoning from an envious loser, but what else can one expect from a pig.....but a grunt!

FEAR -- is his and your problem and I can see right thru it....so don't try to pass off your guilt complex issues on me.

actually i think there is still plenty left to depreciate in this car and one year from now it will be worth a good 60-75k less...

btw, no dealer would touch an anni with a 30-foot pole...

it is beautiful by all means, but (on increasing value over time) it is like a russian ***** - the only way to make you a millionaire is if you were a billionaire before that

the cl class has always been a depreciation black hole... and a 100k+ overpriced to begin with anni cl is a depreciation force that has no equal in the automotive world...

Be in little doubt this'll be a $75k car in two or three years time. The more time goes on the differential between the regular 65 and the Anniversary version will narrow further.

The rebranding of the CL to the S Coupe will hurt values and well any of those of us here with W220s/W215s will tell you the real precipitous drop begins when the new shape is revealed! Just look at the 2006 CL65s you can buy for mid $40s money today!

Doesn't detract from the car itself, blame the market!

Hello fellows,

Does anyone here presently own a CL65 AMG 40th Anniversary Edition ? I've been browsing through all Europe, US, and Canada trying to find one up for sale, but can't seem to find one anywhere - autotrader, cars.com, mobile.de, autoscout24, etc. nowhere to be found a decent with low mileage. If you or somebody you know is considering selling one, PLEASE email me at oakayev@hotmail.com Thanks a lot and look forward to hearing from you guys.

Good luck, with only 40 made and I think 18 in the US I hope you're a patient individual!
