Need used engine for 2005 CL65 AMG or to sell for parts

Fuel rail stuck open on my CL65 AMG and engine is ruined.

MB USA and Daimler Benz have been absolutely no help. The car had only 64,000 miles on it, and had been under lease for four years from MB Financial, and I bought it from a broker with 60,000 miles on it last August. It appeared to be in perfect shape. I drove it 4,000 miles. When it started running very roughly and smoking heavily, I put less than 25 miles on it before taking it to the dealer.

Now need a new engine or to sell the non-affected parts. Please contact me at sahansel@hotmail.com if you know of a good engine or wish to buy parts from this car or the whole remainder.

How much for the engine as it is? What's wrong with it? You tried rebuilding it?

I can sell you a Mercedes-Benz V12 TWIN TURBO engine. It was removed from a 03 S600 with 50,000 miles. Engine is sold complete with the engine harness, manifolds and turbos. The bolt-on accessories are NOT included. i.e.- alternator, starter, steering pump, ac compressor or throttle.

I am interested in either buying a comparable engine to put in this car or selling the car for parts. What is the price on the engine you have for sale, and where is it located? I can send you a statement from MB re the problem if I have an email address.

wow...this is a first you know!!!

From the many many dealers and MB mechanics I have talked to...

NOT ONE 65 MOTOR HAS BLOWN....I cant believe it....a fuel rail? Holy crap

look the engine is $80k....the car is worth $40k...sell for parts or have it rebuilt.....a shame because there are less then 100 of those car in the USA....

I'm following this thread because as a future 65 owner, this is the nightmare situation you think about. Keep us posted with the eventual resolution.

i would like to know that too... there is no such thing as "stuck open rail" as fuel rails have no moving parts.. only an injector on the rail can stuck open and it would have hard time hydrolocking an engine to begin with...

What exactly did the dealer tell you? Did they try to buy the car from you? Did you take it somewhere else? I hope the engine can be rebuit, If All else fails take it to a trade school auto shop and have the class try to repair a $135000 car. Can't hurt. I had my infiniti repaired for 1/3 the cost.( new cluch ).

This member hasnt responded...I bet the turbo went bad or maybe he is just trying to say the 65's arent bulletproof...trying to scare potential buyers...

These things with the 65 dont exist....they are BULLETPROOF

$202000 it should be bullet proof. I talked to my mb rep and he said "say what?" Can you post some pic's of the car and any damage?

I hope so. Other then that from experience what really goes wrong with these engines? I heard the turbo seals leak?

I'm interested in buying a ignition tumbler and key, if your selling.

actually there are a few cases like that on the 55 motors. they all break valves. one broke a piston too. the repair is expensive ($4000), but not out of question.

has anybody pulled the heads to see the extent of damage? it might just need a few valves...

I hope I don't get flamed for reviving a dead thread, but how... exactly, would a fuel rail be stuck open?

Unless I'm missing something, the fuel rails are always "open". Hell, they're nothing but a glorified hollow tube. The fuel injectors are what keep the fuel from entering the cylinders.

So, what am I missing here?

you're not missing anything, you're correct in your statements.

I'd want to question the dealer far more intently.
