01 CL55 Top Speed

When I get a chance to speed lets say I'm doing 110MPH the RPM meter if I saw correctly was at 5000RPM in 5th gear? maybe below 5000RPM slightly, how would it be possible for me to do 150MPH if I redline at 6000RPM? Wouldn't the transmission be at its peak or, blow up? at 6000RPM I would guess I'd be at 120MPH or so, someone fill me in on this I'm not too knowledgeable in this field, thanks.

PS
I don't ever plan on doing 150MPH I just want to know what my car is capable of.

I'm talking about the transmission itself, at 110MPH im at 5,000RPM or so, how can I achieve 155 with only 1,000RPM remaining?

You need to look at your RPM/gear again. What you are saying is incorrect unless your tranny is slipping.

See chart. I had to search for the gear ratios so I hope this is correct.

what are the symptoms of a slipping transmission? I would've never guessed my transmission was slipping, seems really solid.

I actually tested it again today and what was happening was when I floor it the rpm flys up to 5 even at 80mph its just going back to 4th I think that's what I was seeing because all autos do this, I learned this when I was doing 100mph earlier at 3000rpm

I've hit 171 in my CL60. I would imagine the 55 to be capable of 180+ very easily if the governor is removed in the ecu

His is not a kompressor engine but the 2003+ should be able to hit that mark.
