Help--Intermittent driver door panel power loss

Started having a new odd issue happen to me in the last few days. What happens is that for some reason, I totally lose power on the driver's side door (windows, mirrors, seat adjustment, everything). I may get out and go into a shop or something and when I return, it is all working fine again. This has happened probably 8-10 times over the past 4 days. What is very disturbing is that it just happened again and the window has a tiny little gap (where it usually automatically goes down just a hair when you open the door and then raises itself when you close it to create a good seal). So there is a tiny space now in my window gap. Anyone have a clue what the heck is going on?

This is an often occuring problem on our cars, its usually a door wiring fault. If you search the forum you should find a lot of imfo.

It Is the door harness. It is routed carefully, but eventually gets pinched and malfunctions. The harness is 150 bucks. The labor is obscene thought as it requires cutting and splicing into the old harness. About 20 wires and an airway tube need to be soldered together under the floor insulation. I have done it twice on different cars and hated it both times.

If you are going to do it yourself and value your sanity you should remove the front seat on the corresponding side. Makes things a bit easier.

ugh.....that sounds like a nightmare......what's frustrating the most is how the window doesn't go all the way up when you pull it shut (like it used to do), leaving a tiny little gap where its not closed.

not sure if the speaker wires are involved, I will turn the stereo up next time I have the window/mirror/seat issue and see if I can still hear the stereo. I think the other guy is right, its the door harness. One good news thing is we had heavy rain last night, and I actually went out and hopped in the pax side and there was no water leaking in, so I think the window had made its way up to seal the window correctly.

I hate the total randomness of this though....imagine literally having to contemplate NOT going to like a drive through or mail drop for fear maybe the window won't come back up. Sucks

There are three sheathes that pass through the accordion hinge. The smaller of the three holds the two pair of speaker wires for the left door.

The other two hold misc. wires for the door controls (seat/mirror control) and window/trunk control module as well as various others items such as Keyless go antenna if equipped.

You really don't need the diagram if you are going to fIx the issue. Replacing individual wires will only prolong your misery as once they have started failing they will contbinue. Purchase the new upgraded harness and splice it following the color coding. The new harness is cheap and will last the remaining life of the vehicle.

thanks

Hey, thanks to all who responded......it was a completely severed wire in one of the bundles running through the rubber accordion looking piece from the car to the door. Soldered and added some extra wire to make it longer and all is like new again..--for now :-)

appreciate it guys
