Alcantara

I have a CL55 2006. It's black on black but the interior from the windows up is a light grey. I think the CL65 of the same year, there was an option for black alcantara headliner, etc.

Does anyone have experience with this. Should I have the dealer get all associated parts for the CL65 to fit my CL55? Would that include the windowpanes, visors, handle bars and headliner. Or get someone to do everything custom?

I want the interior "blacked out" w/ suede.

I have no experience at this so I'm all ears.

Thanks!

I would assume you could probably buy another CL with the money that would cost.

It's much cheaper and easier to find a competent automotive upholstery shop near you to do it.

Do custom shops typically do the visors and handle bars, etc.?

Anyone know a good shop in the NY tristate area?

I'm moving forward with 3 projects over the next 6 months.

1) Lorinser Fenders
2) 9500ci installation
3) Alcantara for posts, headliner, visors, etc.

Found a good guy in NYC area for 1 and 2 and separate company for 3.

I will do them all a few months apart and will share pics.

I ordered the fenders through AIdesign and Lorinser has to make them (they don't have anymore in inventory for w215) and due to the Holidays it will likely take a few weeks before they get in. Apprantely the w215 Lorinser fenders are fiberglass as opposed to the new ones that are more like a traditional bumper material. There are pros and cons of both, but not concerned due to the bodyshop I've selected.

The passport 9500 will also be installed at the same time and when I drop the car off when the fenders get in, I will make the decision for the alcantara headliner, etc. In either case, probably have an update by the end of January. Will keep you posted.

Lorinser Fenders are complete. The radar installation is almost done as is the Alcantara headliner.

I'm now condisering whether to pull the trigger on the Renntech R1 package upgrade. Anyone have experience w/ this package including the full intercooler ugrade kit, ECU, and crankshaft pulley?

way over priced for what your actually buying.

ECU tune most of the vendors here charge 1k at the most i think.
Intercooler pump is less than $200 again most vendors carry the same one.
most Pulley kits are less than 2k....Eurocharged is $1700

pretty sure you can add that up lol.

LOVE the Lorinser fenders as well as your P30 wheels from the E63. Just be careful as fiberglass is fragile. I saw a CL600 W215 with a full Lorinser kit (except front bumper was AMG) and his Lorinser fender got cracked on the top part of the wheel well. I don't know if it was due to the wheel rubbing or a door dent type situation but they can be fragile.

I took a look at the fenders before install and they had a lot of give to them. Had to wait a few weeks to get them from Lorinser as they had to actually make them. AIDesign told me the quality was much better than a few years back and the fitting process was much easier than expected.

Developed an issue with the trunk pump, so that's getting fixed and should have car back next week. The headliner is done but I haven't seen it yet. Also going to get the renntech r1 package with the full pump kit,not jus the replacement pump

I had this done on my 2003 cl55 back in 2005. Platinum motors in LA charged me $2500 and did my headliner in black suade along with the visors. They deyed all of grey plastic parts black including the handles. All the light grey parts were either dyed or covered snd it all looked factory. I had the car for another two years after that and everything held up perfect. Any good interior shop will be able to do this conversion. Isn't Uniq Motorsports in NY area?

Got my car back from aidesign.com on Friday and am blown away. Pictures to follow shortly. The headliner looks factory finish, and they also replaced the door panel "felt" material with the same charcoal alcantara as the headliner -- looks amazing. The rear view mirror (and related parts) that were painted looks factory finished and the 9500ci install is the mirror and ashtray in top notch. I'm so glad I replaced the fenders with the Lorinser fenders as they make the car look more aggressive but not too over the top. We removed the V8 Kompressor badges and replaced with the mini "Powered by Renttech" badges. The Renntech upgrade was expensive but well worth it. I did the R1 package plus the full intercooler upgrade pump. The car is now at 538 hp and its just seems much more responsive after the ECU upgrade.
